Oh okay. I thought they would be on the books through 2014

Negative. They both have player options for next season and that's it. Either of them would be a total moron to decline their options.

Also I wish we could get a third team to take on either Biedrins or Jefferson (and we take on the other). If they were dumping both and getting Gordon and a pick, I don't see any way that GSW turns that down. But that's a pipedream for a trade deadline deal.

Depends on who we're willing to take in exchange.

Charlotte wants Ben Gordon out of their locker room badly. Jefferson for Gordon with a sweetener of some type from Charlotte?

Honestly, free agency is possibly weaker than the draft this year (outside of the really big fish). We would still have space to go after the max guys, too. We would actually end up opening up more cap space for 2014 free agency, which looks to have a deeper talent pool.

I agree, this year's pool is kind of shite. I explored looking for a deal where we take on Jefferson and Biedrins (Or Bogut and one of them), but I really can't come up with one that I like.

The fact that the TP is actually reporting on it makes me wonder if it's a strategic Hornets leak, and if it's a Hornets leak that makes me think the goal is possibly to drive up Gordon's value for this summer

This.

Would love to get Barnes. Nota buying Thompson, but I'm open... patience with Rivers would make that child's play.

Any near-expiring of any size is just fine. A Gordon deal shouldn't bring in enough salary to cripple us this offseason, and making room.for the following offseason is HUGE. I think most believe this team will have a good chance of making the playoffs next season. Having room next season so we can bring in some good talent without shipping something as good out, allowing the team to cash in on their success and anthe improving Davis as much as possible, is very desirable.

Glad you chimed in. You always bring something to the conversation.

Wouldn't you agree, adding Barnes to this deal makes an unprotected 1 worth it? Who is in this draft that is worth the gamble of the lottery, coupled with a possible fail of a pick? To me, Barnes is worth not taking that risk and adds something significant at a place where we need something significant.

Gravy/Rivers
Klay/Rivers (bring back Mason?)
Barnes/FA
AD/Anderson
Lopez/Smiht

I'm not sold on that if we trade Gordon for Klay Thompson.

why?

and I was asking 42...

is there a guarantee that our 1 will be a top 3? Is there a guy in this draft that addresses our needs and worth that pick? Does Barnes address our needs? Is he on par with the top 3-5 guys in this draft?

Do you understand what an unprotected pick does?
