If the recruiter/evaluator position pays close to what he'll be making at LT, then yeah, I could see him working in BR/NOLA over Ruston. The move to Tech could have been more monetary based than career advancement, so again, I think a lot depends on the money here.

Juluke could be LSU's recruiting coordinator in five years for all we know. Do you think he would prefer to be LSU's recruiting coordinator, or bounce around low tier college football as a position assistant? Who knows, but I do think you are undervaluing what this position could lead to at LSU.

I like Juluke a lot for this position. Not saying we get him by any means, but he'd be a great addition to the staff.

What's to stop LSU from hiring one coach in the Miami area, one in Atlanta, one in Dallas, one in Houston, one in Los Angeles, one in South Carolina, etc? Let them scout those areas for LSU, and fly them into Baton Rouge on an as needed basis for staff meetings and to play host when kids from their areas visit.

basically following the model of MLB local scouts...looks like, according to the rules, they wouldn't be allowed to visit recruits

quote:

Proposal 11-2, which allows for football programs to hire a recruiting coordinator and support staff separate from the coaching staff, any of whom can partake in all recruiting activities save for off-campus visits.

Good HS Football Coach who was always a fan of LSU. But he would definitely be superfluous to our efforts recruiting in-state.

Wilson is the skeleton key to anyone in New Orleans. With precious few exceptions, he hasn't lost out to anyone in a head-to-head other than $uper Trooper Taylor when he was paying Trovon Reed & Robinson through Reed's stepfather's "Non-Profit".

We get who we want in New Orleans thanks to Frank. Jabbar needs time to develop the administrative, time-management part of the grind of being a football coach. He would be a net-negative at this point.

That won't always be the case, because one day Frank is going to leave to go prove himself as an Offensive Coordinator. I'm not sure he'll get that shot at LSU, and he needs that opportunity so he can bolster his resume to be head coach here one day. That's his ultimate dream.

But for now, Frank & Jabbar would overlap and be redundant as recruiters, and Jabbar needs to prove himself as a developer of talent at the collegiate level in a coaching capacity.

So he's not the right hire now.

Wouldn't that be a conflict of interest?

I get what you're saying, but who cares if we waste resources in the short term? Look at all the money we pump into the program. It's not like Juluke would sit around with his thumb up his arse because Frank is well connected in New Orleans either; you can bet that he'd improve our recruiting overall. He's a charismatic guy that players like and respect, which you can never have enough of in recruiting. It doesn't hurt that he's a black guy from the city that can identify with a lot of the players we recruit.

I don't know how much longer we hold onto Frank. I haven't heard of him being offered an OC position anywhere, but he's been a great position coach and an invaluable recruiter, so you'd imagine the offers will come eventually. Juluke would be a seamless transition as RC after a year or two working with Frank.

If there isn't clarification on exactly what this stipulates, you can guarantee there will tons of wiggle room on what an off campus visit will be.

Off Campus doesn't seem too difficult to define, but you can bet Saban will push the envelope, like send a guy to Birmingham on the campus of UAB, claiming its part of UA's system, therefore on campus. Maybe this is why he hired a Lawyer on his Football Operations Department team.

No I mean the visit part. What happens if a recruit shows up where a recruiter is. Or they happen to run into each other. Get what I mean.

If anybody complained about the haves compared to the have nots it just got a lot worse. There will be no parody in college football. For the first time I feel bad for non-AQ schools.

Tennessee was pretty much a parody of a college football team last season.

Any idea what he'll be making at Tech, or what his official position is? I haven't read anything that says what he'll specifically be assisting with.

Like I said, making 100k+ to scout New Orleans isn't a bad gig.

I don't know how much he makes but he's coaching running backs. Which is not a bad gig at Tech right now considering the two starting running backs Dixon and King last year were Freshman.

good info, couldn't find that on the net.

I'd imagine he will make a similar amount as he would as a recruiting analyst at LSU, with a more prestigious title. like I said, no way he leaves Tech

I guess it'll be the dreaded " SECONDARY VIOLATION." You can bet these kids will be "running into" Bama Staffers everywhere.
