Please be true...
Seems like Obsidian may want to return to the Mohave or maybe post apocalyptic Los Angeles.
YES PLEASE.

Meh, I'm sure Bethesda is handling the Fallout 4 since it will most likely debut a new game engine, etc.

I know bethesda is going to do 4. They have taken over the numbered entries in the series.
I'm assuming Obsidian will take another crack at it after 4 wraps, just like before.
I enjoy both developers efforts in this series, so I have no complaints if this is how things take shape.
we just have to wait several months for the obsidian builds to not be glitchy nightmares is all.

Too bad the Mojave is such a shitty location.

The Mojave was more interesting than the Capital Wasteland IMO.

I completely disagree. It just lacked the atmosphere of the CW. After playing F3 I feel like the CW was an actual place I've visited. That kind of feeling you get when you think of an old vacation or something.
The Mojave is just this boring arse desert. Unless you have a fetish for sand I don't see how it could be better than a ruined D.C.
Now, as far as gameplay mechanics NV definitely made some improvements. But strictly speaking of the setting, for me the Capital Wasteland blows the Mojave/Vegas out of the water.

My problem with New Vegas was that the strip didn't contrast with the more ruined areas as much as it should have. Same ugly textures and clothing, same type of modules as other settlements.
Those are limitations of what Obsidian was given by Bethesda, though.

Agreed. Not to mention NV had the same 4 songs play over and over and over and over and over
NV wasn't bad, but the capital wasteland in Fallout 3 is a much more detailed world.

Honestly, the thing I'm looking forward to the most in Fallout 4 is the new game engine. The one they used for Oblivion/FO3/FO:NV did the job but my god were the textures bad

FO4 should be a pretty big jump from FO3 since I'm assuming it will be a XBox 720/PS4 game.

I don't understand how one game can be so popularly received while the other is given such a lukewarm reception.
they didn't feel THAT different to me. The glitches might have been an initial turn off, but even at their worst I didn't encounter anything that amounted to more than a minor annoyance.
oh well, whatever.

Bethesda's games can look spectacular with lighting, color fixture, bloom, and resolution overhauls.
But if user mods demonstrate anything about Bethesda, it's that the developers don't bother tapping into the potential of their own engine.
I can't believe I even managed to enjoy Oblivion and Fallout 3 on a console. I guess my 2006-2008 standards were drastically lower.

Maybe it's because NV was my first Fallout experience and I've beaten it several times before playing 3, but IMO NV makes 3 look like an Atari 2600 game.

You can blame hardware standards for that. Users make the graphics mods because they are not limited to the recommended specs.
