The later books in the timeline are nothing like enders game.

I liked them but they were strange.

I did not read the books from the other character,s perspective.

What is the best order to read the books? I saw the one on wikipedia but figured I'd ask here as well.

He wants a broad perspective on the books. Next he will ask the soccer board.

I have read Ender's Game at least 25 times since High School. Only book I've ever finished the last page and started again on the first page immediately.

I enjoyed Speaker almost as much - but it is a completely different book. Speaker is much more philosophical. If you go into it knowing this, I think it helps. If you expect it to be Ender's Game 2 - well, the dude just isn't going to kill off an entire intelligent species again, is he?

Children and Xeno are both decent reads, but continue being philosophical and are not nearly as good.

My friends and I refer to the Shadow Books as "Card's vacation home downpayments". There is some good stuff in them, but they progressively get less insightful and meaningful. And the action more predictable and lazy.

In Order of my liking:

Game
Speaker
Enders Shadow
Ender in Exile
Xeno
Shadow of Hege
Children
Puppets
Giant

Note - I have not read Shadows in Flight yet, but will eventually.

Card does have some other good stuff worth checking out though.

I've read Ender's Shadow, which is from Bean's perspective and it's almost equally as good as Ender's Game IMHO

I have read Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead. I enjoyed Speaker more, but Ender's Game will make for one kick-arse movie if they pull it off right.

The only scenes I can think of are the two times Ender ever beat the shite out of a kid. Once at the beginning and that shower fight nearer the end.

If you're hoping for Buggers and Marines having an epic space battle, I don't think that will happen. Maybe if they show the Buggers invading Earth or something, I dunno.

That's correct. But those scenes need to be violent. The book made it seem like Ender fricked those dudes up bad. Like shockingly bad. At least the first dude.

I doubt they will show the ultra violence. I wouldn't be surprised if the early scene is removed from the movie.

I could easily see the movie studio and marketing department trying to make this a hit with the younger teen crowd.

frick. That. They better not remove the first killing scene. That it pivotal to his development. They better not frick this up.
