The old motor (2012 Mercury 250 Pro xs) ran 70 mph wide open. Normal cruising speed is 40-45 usually. Haven't put it in the water with the new motor yet.

i got a buddy looking at a new 2013 proxs. he was told not to get it because it was rated 10-12 hp less than the 2012 model which i think was actually rated around 275 hp, any truth to that?

That is the 1st I have heard of that. I'll post some performance #'s when I get the boat out on the water & see if I can tell any difference. As far as I know, it's the same exact motor. I wasn't aware that they changed anything other than the graphics on the cowling....

If you decide to get rid of this one after 88 hours let me know.

I'll be selling it around september. It will probably have way less than 88 hrs on it. I fished a lot of tournaments last year & put most of those hrs on the motor for tournaments & prefishing. I sold the 12' motor for 13k with no cables, controls or oil tank. Just the motor itself. Had brand new torque master lower unit installed on it a week before I sold it. Never had it in the water, still had sticker on it when he picked it up...

yea i didn't think they did either...it's funny how none of the manufacturers release actual horsepower ratings

i'm thinking about just ordering the new graphics for mine

I cranked it up on the water hose in my driveway when I got home & it seemed to be quieter than last years model. Could just be me though. I know that all the wiring & what not is exactly the same. I just unhooked my harness, cables, etc. off the 12' & hooked them up on the new motor.

According to the owners manual the weight is exactly the same as the 12'...

i found a thread on it, check it out

250 pro xs

doesn't look like the 10 hp is true but it may be 2-3 hp due to EPA emission standards

yeah I was actually just reading that. From the looks of it, I have a Gen-2 Torque master lower unit which is supposed to go a little faster than the Gen-1 Torque master.

Damn jsmoke, what made you decide to sell the one you had if it only had 88 hrs on it? You a guide and upgrade every year? Btw those majeks are bad arse. Do you own the illusion or xtreme? Bet it does move with that 250 on it. I like the xs racing lower unit on it as well. Thought my boat was fast going low 60's but yours is about 500lbs lighter. Post some more pics of that beast for me.

Extreme 2200

The new Gen-2 Torque Master lower unit can be identified by the front fin as pictured in the 1st post. Can't wait to get it on the water & see what it can do.

Found this on another site:

quote:

Just got the word: This is a newly-designed "Gen-2" Torquemaster Gearcase (released in early January, 2013). To avoid confusion... we'll call it the "Wingmaster".

Features Verado internals, improved LIFT, and is designed to be run higher than the original Torquemaster model. Side water inlets should not require any blockoffs/modifications. Strut area above the propeller also features torque-canceling technology.

Currently, it DOES NOT BACKFIT due to changes in the relief mechanism of the trim system on models that utilize this gearcase.

Early reports indicate it will be a little faster than the previous Torquemaster Model, and will provide improved lift characteristics.

i have the gen-1, i definitely don't have the wing on mine...they sent it to me after my last one blew, its supposed to have a thicker propshaft

i read the gen-2 requires further setback, i wish i had it because i could definitely use more lift

Same here. One more week in Brazil then home for 28 days. Got a trip planned for Toledo to fish in the Texas Oilman Tourney and a tourney on D'Arbonne March 2nd.

Just curious what tourney is on D'Arbonne the 2nd? I fish the MediaBass circuits and D'Arbonne is my favorite lake in this area..... if it's open to anyone I might have to show up...
