Has anyone ever used this? Harder? Easier? Any other specifics? TIA

I only did it once in high school, so I can't really say if it's harder or not. But I know lots of people do it and seem to do fine.

I did 2 indepdent studies- both were electives (a kinesiology and a sociology class). It's going to be really challenging if you're not disciplined. I just forced myself to do x # of assignments a week throughout the semester so that I wasn't panicing as my deadline drew closer. Like I said- I did IS for elective courses. I don't think it would be beneficial to do them for any intense or core courses.

I'm working on finishing the required accounting courses to sit for the CPA and I've taken most of them via independent study. If you don't know how to study properly, you better learn quickly. What kind of courses are you looking to take?

I'm a junior LSU student from out of state and in the process of waiving my OOS tuition so I thought of possibily doing this and working more for a semester. Some of the classes I'm looking at are BLaw 3201, Marketing 3401, Acct 2101, and a Western Civ History

I just took Blaw 3201 a year ago. Lot of reading but not hard. I've taken Acct intermediate 1, 2 and income tax so I can't imagine that managerial will be harder. The marketing and Western Civ definitely shouldn't be an issue. Just remember to keep a steady pace and make yourself a schedule and commit to it and you won't have a problem.

I'd like to know if anyone has taken advanced accounting through this--it's the last one I would need to sit for the CPA, but I thought that might be a tad too difficult for distance.

I'm having to make the same decision. It's being held as a night class this fall at LSU so I'm debating taking that or through ind. study. My boss suggests that I take the class. I haven't decided yet.
