I don't get why people always want new boards. The more you separate subjects from the OT, the more it dies. If I had any say about it, the OT would get some of those boards integrated back into it.

Because they go too fast. Any movie thread would go under really quickly.

And it's not only the OT. The Gaming Board frequently has threads regarding PC builds and components. The Movie/TV board will often have threads relating to HDTVs, Roku players, Apple TVs, and so forth.

So you're stating here that you don't actually read the threads.

On the gaming board, the PC builds and components are for GAMING PCs. They wouldn't leave that board even if there was a Tech board

On the M/TV board, those Tech topics all have to do with M/TV. Apple TVs, Rokus, etc threads have a perfect fitting in the M/TV board since the main focus of those devices is MOVIES AND TV SHOWS.

Tech topics are fine in the OT. I see no problem with it.

EDIT: pr0n board first

The OT will continue to flourish, irrespective of whether or not new boards are added. The addition of a music board and outdoor board haven't diminished the activity of the OT. It's still prospering.

Quite honestly, I would add three new boards - Religion/Philosophy, Technology, and Health/Fitness. Major categorical subjects like this need a dedicated forum of discussion. Doing so fosters more substantive and focused discussions. Additionally, each board tends to have its own "regular" posters and ultimately develops into a unique sub-community, engendering and enhancing sentiments of solidarity among the more active posters.

The OT will always have a seemingly infinite number of thread possibilities, so it will never "die" out. You'll have threads like this,

And this.

And this...

The dilution of the OT has been taking place for the past decade, yet it's still the most active board on the site.

There are plenty of computer threads on the Gaming Board that do not necessarily pertain to gaming. For example, this one.

The same can be said for the Movie/TV board. Here's an example.

Here's another.

So were music threads. And outdoor threads. The OT hasn't truly been "off topic" since 2003. A more apt appellation for the board should be the "random post" board. As previously mentioned, major categorical subjects need dedicated forums for discussion - technology, religion/philosophy, and health/fitness.

While I endorse all three, I feel that a tech board would be the next logical choice.
