I am in Corpus for business today and tomorrow. Anybody know the area well and have a good recommendation or two.

I am looking for anything I can't get elsewhere or any exceptional food.

TIA

I ate on top of one of the Omni's downtown at the Republic of Texas bar & grill LINK in the fall. Great views of the harbor and the food was very good. Lots of exotic game on the menu. Dinner wasn't cheap.

What area of town? Downtown?

Hester's is probably the most popular lunch spot in the downtown area. I haven't been yet since I don't work in that area.

For a nice dinner I would look into Vietnam Restaurant(I'll warn that the daily specials are usually pretty big upsells, just order off the menu), or Bleu Bistro(I enjoyed the short ribs). Other have mentioned Republic of Texas (I haven't been)

There is a new Katz 21 on the southside that I hear is nice

Asian food: I like D'Lounge for a relaxing place to get a cocktail and some sushi but the food isn't excellent.

Yoshi Sushi is a sort of strange all encompassing Asian place. They have a few Korean dishes on the back of the menu that are pretty good. The Bibimop is definitely worth trying if you've never had Korean food before.

What are some places that you've been looking into?

One of my favorites in town is Dragon Fly. They try to do some different things (sometimes they miss) but the food there is some of the best in town.

Saigon Cafe on Saratoga Blvd. Best Pho and Bahn Mi sandwich I've ever had.

If you like burgers, Wallbangers is good. It's like Fuddruckers with a slightly harder bun.

Fall back option: Rudy's BBQ

when you do eventually get to rudy's, grab as much sissy sauce as you can and bring it home.

The Pho there is really good

I haven't tried the Banh Mi yet but I've heard good things

Also it would be a shame if he doesn't get a breakfast taco while in town

I would suggest hitting up a place like Nano's Taco Run or Southside Barbacoa

Excellent recommendations, thank you. I'm gonna try one out and let you know.

I'm in the bayfront I think it's called. So somewhere nearby

Also - Yardarm would be a good pick. You can sit out by the water and the food is really good.

All entrees come with a complimentary soup (choice of gaspacho or clam chowder) and salad. The salad comes with 2 different dressings. I find it tastes best to mix them together.

All the seafood entrees are really good but I find their oysters to be a bit on the small side so you might want to avoid that.

Really friendly people (the owner is some old European guy that dresses up like a boat captain with a hat on) You definitely feel like you're with family at a place like that. Prices are pretty reasonable also.

Bleu Bistro would be my choice then

Nice ambiance and solid food

Unfortunately there just aren't that many really good restaurants here but that's one of the good ones.

One of the only places I've seen that serves Triple Tail (not on the menu, it's sometimes a special)

Niko's for steak. Hu Dat for Asian flare. The Republic on 18th floor at Omni for best view of city and the best chop in the city.

This is probably accurate but I can't verify

Nothing wrong with Hu Dat

I just prefer Saigon Cafe for Vietnamese

And the different Hu Dat locations seem to vary in quality
