Prophecy of the 112th Pope

So I was researching and found this.....

quote:

Saint Malachy (1094 - November 2, 1148) was known as great prophet. While in Rome in 1139 he received a vision showing him all the Popes from his day to the end of time. According to these prophecies, only two Popes remaining after John Paul II. St. Malachy was reported to have possessed the powers of levitation, healing, and clairvoyance. While on his way to the Vatican to assume the post of papal legate for Ireland, he fell into trance and saw a line of papal reigns stretching from the successor to Innocent II and extending through centuries to the last of the line, identified as Peter of Rome. Malachy assigned short descriptions in Latin to each pope when he committed his vision to paper. These mottoes usually refer to a family name, birthplace, coat-of-arms, or office held before election to the papacy. Some of the phrases are multiple prophecies, written with ingenious word play. Through the centuries, his prophecies have turned out to be amazingly accurate, even prophesying the date of his death. In all, 112 popes and their characteristics are listed from 1143 to the alleged end of the world, or perhaps religion as we know it, when truth is inlay revealed about human creation and destiny. Saint Malachy's final words were: "Rome, the seat of the Vatican, will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people." Prophecy of the Popes is a list of 112 short phrases in Latin. They purport to describe each of the Roman Catholic popes (along with a few anti-popes), beginning with Pope Celestine II (elected in 1143) and concluding with a pope described in the prophecy as "Peter the Roman", whose pontificate will end in the destruction of the city of Rome.

Peter the Roman is described as:
quote:

10. Peter the Roman - This final Pope will likely be Satan, taking the form of a man named Peter who will gain a worldwide allegiance and adoration. He will be the final antichrist which prophecy students have long foretold. If it were possible, even the very elect would be deceived. The 112th prophesy states: "In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Petrus Romanus, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations; after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End."

Prophecy

quote:

112 Peter the Roman, who will nourish the sheep in many tribulations; when they are finished, the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge will judge his people. The end.

Wiki Link of Entire Story

Conclusion:

If the new Pope's official name is Peter the Roman.. we are fricked..

TL;DR
St. Malachy had a vision that the 112th Pope will be the anti christ.. The new pope that stepped down with in the last 24hrs, is #111. The prophecy states
quote:

112 Peter the Roman, who will nourish the sheep in many tribulations; when they are finished, the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge will judge his people. The end.

If this is what the prophecy says then the whole thing is a sham. Benedict XVI is not the 111th reigning pontiff, he's the 266th.

He's the 112 from the point when the prophecy was written by a Saint Malachy

If you have the slightest inkling this might be true, you should heavily consider having an "accidental" death pretty soon to avoid the chaos of armageddon.

ETA: Seriously, have you considered the traffic nightmare of millions of souls ascending to heaven (or hell for that matter) at the same time? No shame in checking out early. LSU fans shouldn't have a problem with it as most have plenty of practice leaving early.

Except the supposed Prophecy of Saint Malachy didn't appear in written form until 1595. Malachy died in 1148. And for the prophecy to be correct with the next pope I believe one has to count the antipopes who don't count toward the official line of succession.

quote:

The prophecy was first published in 1595 by Arnold de Wyon, a Benedictine historian, as part of his book Lignum Vitæ. Wyon attributed the list to Saint Malachy, the 12th-century bishop of Armagh in Ireland

quote:

This manuscript was then deposited in the Roman Archive, and thereafter forgotten about until its rediscovery in 1590.

I agree that the time lines of the publication to discovery are off, but the 112 popes starts with Pope Gregory XIV (1590–1591)
