Diarse is easily better. I'm not a big RSJ fan. Good athlete, I just don't think he is a very good receiver.

That's because you rarely saw him play receiver.

I think Diarse has just as much upside because he still needs to learn a lot about WR. Played QB last 3 years almost exclusively

So just substitute "almost exclusively" for "in addition to safety and DE" and you have RSJ.

Again, rarely played WR. And he pretty much sat the entire year due to injury.

Funny reading y'all rationalizing Diarse > RSJ based on the AA game.

Anyone know what kind of hands Diarse has?

Attached to his wrist ones, very rare.

2009 4A Stae Championship highlights

Not a whole lot of film of Diarse playing WR. As a FRESHMAN, he plays WR & Safety in this championship game. Check it out and you'll know why he can play either way.

ETA: He'd be effective as a Wildcat QB too because he's got a good arm. 45 yard TD pass vs Ruston

I saw RSJ in the AA game. I wouldn't trade any of the 27 guys we signed this year for RSJ. In fact, I wouldn't trade that deep snapper we got last year

RSJ did not look like a baller. Maybe it was just a bad day. I haven't seen anymore of him. TAMU had some other receivers in the game, though, that were doing great.

JD also played a fair amount of WR his Jr year b/c they had an all-everything QB transfer over from Carroll. This allowed John to play WR, QB and DB his Jr year. He can do a little bit of everything and unlike some he's actually really good at all of them.

I would take RSJ in a hearbeat just due to potential. I would not trade Diarse for him though. I do think Derrick Griffin would've been the best player in TAMU's WR haul whether or not he moves to TE. That dude is massive and has better hands than RSJ.

Been watching film of the two. They look like similar athletes. Diarse is deceptively fast. I think Diarse is as good or better. Comments?

Even when I thought he was flipping I was still pretty meh about him. Nothing really impressed me about him other than his size.

I agree that Diarse is better for us and better overall as a wr, right now. May always be and I'm one that believes John is just so natural as a receiver and with the ball. He has very good hands and has good short area quicks and speed(much more important than 40 speed). He also has the strength to get separation. I think we're gonna be very pleased with John and as soon as this year.

I do agree with the sites in ranking RSJ higher because he simply has better upside and by a longshot. He's got great size, is a plus athlete and has good speed for his size. I do think he's far from a natural receiver and may never be one. I have always thought TE is where he ends up but will not bank on that because of the TAM offense. In our offense he would end up at TE. He could be excellent there but I think just good at WR but I tend to believe at the end of the day that he'll just be a solid, contributing wr. I don't see him being a AA type wr even in that offense. They have more natural and more fluid wrs that will flourish before him. Truth be told, I think he might be better as a DE down the line with added bulk. May just be a kid that never fully blossoms because he doesn't have a natural position. A tweener of sorts. I'd still take him in a heartbeat. Talent is talent and he has a ton of it. Better to have it and never find a real use for than to not have it.

I just saw JD's dad at Academy. He said John is loving it and that the workouts are intense. He's in for the brk and then back at it when he returns.

I literally had to ask what number he was in San Antonio. Very underwhelming. I'd rather not have him and take all 4 WRs in LA in 2014.
