CC Is A Great Hire, But Won't Be Good Enough For The Majority Of The Rant

While CC is a great hire and will definitely elevate LSU (which is saying a lot), I really do not feel his addition will satisfy the majority of the Rant when it is all said and done.

LSU is a top program in CFB right now. Easily a top 7 program, borderline top 3-4. No doubt about it. There is really no debate. With that in mind, the bulk of the fan base has the "MNC or bust" mentality. You hear it in the stands, you hear it from fans in casual conversation and you see it on display on this board daily.

I personally do not think this hire will push LSU over what I call the "double standard" hump.

As has been beaten to death here by the "realists" (also referred to as "pumpers"), LSU's standard for winning a national championship are much tougher than the majority of the other top programs. A lot of CFB fans in general recognize it, and it is one of the dirty little secrets that makes CFB's championship system such a farce.

Since 2007, LSU has had a top 5 regular season schedule. Think about that. That trend will likely continue in 2013 and beyond as long as a Bama alum is in charge of SEC scheduling.

Couple this with the fact that LSU is now required to beat the mighty Saban twice a season, while the mighty Saban has two chances to beat LSU once, you have quite a row to hoe of you are LSU. The double standard is ridiculous beyond belief, yet if Miles and company can't do it, a large portion of the fan base tears him and his family to pieces.

While I think the Cameron hire is wonderful, I do not think that, at the end of the day, his offense will be good enough to beat Saban away from Tiger Stadium twice in 2013.

I still think LSU will struggle sometimes against top defenses week after week. Think about this: LSU has to play Bama (probably twice), UF, UGA, an improved Ole Miss Team, aTm, an improving MSU program and a tougher OOC slate than most SEC teams.

I see a great season ahead. Most likely ten wins, maybe 11, but we know how the majority of the rant feels about that.

The primary focus for me as a fan will be improvement. If I see improvement, I'll be thrilled and satified, but I'm not going to want to fire Cameron or Miles if they can't overcome the double standard that, by design, is set up to make LSU's path to a title 2-3 times harder than other SEC schools.

I don't. I like lighting fires to see how big they get.

I enjoy embracing the stupidity of the rant. It is entertaining for me.

Inasmuch as 90% of the Rant population consists of (i)children with no judgment, (ii) fans of other schools posing as LSU fans with no interdiction by the administrators (who value traffic above all) and (iii) adults who, because they once played peewee football, absurdly think they are raging experts, you are surely correct.

I couldn't disagree with you more. I'm not a Miles fan. Never have been. I like him as a person just not a head coach. I would say the majority of people who have an issue with Miles has been his inability to make change when it is completely necessary and obvious to everyone else. Whether that is coaching changes, style of play, situational playcalling, the right personnel, etc etc. The hiring of Cam Cameron is HUGE. This hire tells me he knows we need something drastic to change and that also he is willing to set his ego aside and let others who are more qualified/capable help him. I m extremely excited about what this means to our school and players and I hope we have a successful season in 2013. And no that doesn't mean MNC or bust.

LSU's poor QB play has limited the effectivness of the OCs since Fjynn left.

It's up to Les. Let CC do his job and it will work. Keep your thumb on the offense and it won't.

I agree to an extent but I would also say there are many average QB's that are being made to look exceptional by great play calling and OC's teachin g them. That's just something we'ved not had the last 5-6 years. I'm waiting to see improvem$ent from an LSU QB. Lee- No, Jefferson- No, Russell - Maybe, Mett - Not Yet Certainly. Mett was probably the one that had more to do with playcalling than actual coaching to me.

I am willing to give CC a chance considering we have had Bowling Green's former OC running our offense. I said Stud may be a nice guy but he was no more qualified than Malveto to be a coordinator at a major program like LSU. I was hammered for years by the people defending Miles for Stud's hire. Miles confirmed a lot of people's feelings by demoting Stud. Let's give this hire a chance. Miles finally acknowledged he was wrong and what he was doing wasn't working and a change was needed.

Don't you know by now that the combined IQ of the rant is less than a Mr. Potatoe Head.

Anyone upset with this hire is a f**king MORON. I mean we're going from Stud to a proven NFL OC. That's all you need to know. i

frick that. Awesome hire, CC is established enough that he can tell Les to shove it if he tries to call plays

I absolutely agree with you. This hire shows Les is willing to deferential to the offense's benevolence. The only difference we have is I've been a general Les supporter.

Definitely feel Camercn was an upgrade over what we had but I'm not one to think this is a homerun hire. With that being said I wish him the best of luck and I would like to see an offense that can beat people both through the air and on the ground.

I agree, too! Hopefully, Cam is the person that Les will let run the show on offense like he does with "The Chief" on defense. Also, Stud needs more face time with the o-line during practice & the games. I applaud Les!!!
