IT would be a good move on his part if he did. He would have been a redshirt anyway. With TOPS and other financial aid I doubt he would have had to pay a dime for his first semester education. He would look like a team player, preserve his eligibility and join one of the top programs in the country next January. Or he can go to Kentucky or ULL or ... Seems like an easy choice unless he is desperate for playing time next year.

I thought there were academic issues here? How might he qualify for TOPS? What other financial aid do you think we cn give future scholarship football players?

If there are academic issues its doubtful he is going anywhere. I've heard the rumors also about academic eligibility, but don't know. If that is not an issue, and depending on his financial position he could apply for TOPS and FAFSA (Pell and subsidized student loans) and other which would reduce his 1st semester cost to virtually zero (he may need to sell plasma for drinking money, but that's about it)

if he is having academic issues, he's not getting TOPS period...In order to receive TOPs, you have to have been in a more rigorous curriculum and have mimimal GPA, the lowest being a 3.0

false. You need a 2.5 and a 21 on the ACT to be in the lowest classification of TOPs.

Wrong. Tops is actually pretty easy to get.

I thought TOPS was a 20 ACT? I am almost positive about that.
