I gave up on electric can openers years ago and went back to this manual opener. It's got a good grip and has lasted quite a few years without getting dull. Half the cans these days have the little self-opening tabs on them anyway.

I had a manual for ten years that I kept trying to replace but could not find another one like it. Husband found the same one at a restaurant supply. Might be made by kitchenaid maybe.

I got one at Rouse's in Houma. It was about 16 dollars or so but it was worth every penny. Really sturdy.

I've had the OXO Good Grips one too and love it. I can't stand electric can openers.

The only purpose to an electric is to take up space on the counter.

Get the one from pampered chef. Instead if cutting the lid and leaving sharp edges abd the lid falling into your can it cuts the glue joint between the lid and the can. Works really well. Its the only can opener we use and it is a manual device.

We got this one almost 7 years ago and it's held up well. It's just starting to slip a little. Well worth the $12.99

thanks for the suggestions...we had one like the one mentioned from pampered chef but it was the walmart brand..we like the pampered chef products..have a few stones that are awesome, never burn the bottom of cookies again...might look into that one and a few of the others mentioned..i was just always scared to buy a can opener at a higher price b/c of how quickly they dull or stop working..i guess you pay for what you get then??

I use the same one in white, has worked well for years. Cheap to compared to the crappy electrics that never ever last.

Oxo is the way to go. i'd rather use a P38 than use an electric!
