I usually tend to stick with Don Williams, Merle Haggard, and Conway for some of the older stuff, and really like Keith Whitley, George Strait, Hank Williams (sr and jr).

And what is your absolute favorite song from a country artist?

Jason boland, turnpike troubadours, randy Rogers, Stoney larue, reckless kelly, Travis Tritt, Johnny Cash, Townes van zant, Steve Earle, Garth Brooks (yea yea go eat a dick he's fricking catchy), John Fullbright (more folk than country but if you like the rest on this list you'll love him), Cory Branan, Lucero, American aquarium (the last three push the "alt" in alt country about as far as you can but they're amazing)

I'll think of more later but turnpike troubadours is the best doing it right now. No question, no contest, no challenge..... They are the Beatles of country music right now. I started a thread earlier entitled "Turnpike Troubadours are the best band in the world right now" and I stand by it.

My favorite song I'd say is.... Well I'll just give you a list:

7 and 7 - Turnpike
Funeral - Turnpike
Gawd above - John fullbright
Good lord lorrie - turnpike
Proud Souls -Jason Boland
Hey Darlin, do you gamble - lucero
Pancho and lefty - Townes

I'm gonna stop cause I could go for days

Favorite country song ever

Keith Whitley - I'm No Stranger to the Rain

I like the older stuff way more than the newer stuff. Alabama, Kenny Rodgers, Rickey Van Shelton, Verne Gosdin, Ronnie Milsap, etc.

I personally like the stuff coming out of Texas right now more than any other era of the genre. I know that's pretty much sacreligous but I can't help it. The red dirt country scene right now is some of the best music I've ever heard. It is truly GREAT.

Turnpike Troubadours and it's not even close.

Randy Rogers, Wade Bowen, Will Hoge, George Strait, Dirty River Boys (although they would kill me for calling them country).

Three of my favorites are more folk/americana than country, but they are close enough: John Fullbright, Sean McConnell and Patty Griffin.

As for my favorite song, I can't even begin to choose. Maybe "Reckless Love" by Sean McConnell, "Resurrection" by WB, "Lost and Found" by RRB..."Good Lord Lorrie" or "Down on Washington" or "Diamonds & Gasoline" by TT. "Moving" by John Fullbright. Too many to pick.

I usually tend to stick with Don Williams, Merle Haggard, and Conway for some of the older stuff, and really like Keith Whitley, George Strait, Hank Williams (sr and jr).

Those are the corner stones and courses to country music for the last 60 or 70 years. The foundation was laid by many who will never receive recognition for their contributions.

I couldn't possibly pick a favorite, although I'll be leaving at 4pm to see the Hag in Gainesville this evening, for the second time in 8 months, so..yeah, it's the Hag for me. Don Williams is also an all time favorite.
