Porter needs to gain a good bit of weight. Seems like he could be a slightly poorer man's Nicolas Batum.

With Lance Thomas/X backing up Aminu, I'd be happy with a homeless man's Batum.

Exactly
And if we can get a solid contributor at the 3 out of this draft, then I'd consider it a huge success.

If we get someone in the draft that will be a contributor for the next few years, I'll be happy.

Porter is just a basketball player. Plain and simple.

Thompson III raves about his defensive I.Q. How he makes the correct defensive rotation every time.

He's slender and not overly athletic, yet still manages 7.5 rebounds a game.

He contributes in many categories. Averaging 2.5 APG and nearly 3 blocks and steals combined per game.

He's greatly improved his shooting ability from last year. Going from 22% beyond the arc last year to 46% this year. And he's gone 12-22 from three in his last five games.

SF is a bigger need, but I think we should really look at C or a combo guard with this year's really mediocre SF crop. There's just more talent at those spots than SF, and we can try and address SF in free agency.

If we get somewhere around 5-7 we could have:

C: Len or Zeller. I'm really not sure Lopez is the answer starting at C. He's a solid backup, but that's it. Bring in Zeller or Len and split minutes with Lopez and devlop one of those younger guys.

PG/SG: I think this is actually a pretty good draft as far as combo guards. At 5-7 we could have Smart, Carter-Williams, and McCollum all around for that pick. All of them have size, all three can play a little point and off-guard.

If we go SF, the only two that we should even consider would be Bennett or Porter. Muhammed won't be there, and I'm actually pretty meh on him anyway.

We only have two guards that are even NBA level, and a bunch of scrub d-leaguers. I'm all for Rivers developing or whatever, but as of right now I don't see much ever really coming from him in the NBA.

Just my two cents

He's a stud, but from what I've read he's a bit of a project kind of guy. I'm not sure I'd be too thrilled about drafting another guy that will take 2-3 years to be decent.

Bennett is who we really need to look at for SF, imo. But he's gone, Porter is definitely the number two guy.

Bennett doesn't seem like he's capable of defending opposing 3's. He looks like a inside the paint type player on offense as well. He reminds me a lot of Landry, which would be a great pick in the 6-10 range if we weren't loaded at PF.

can't see him playing SF in the NBA...i think he'll have some of the same problems as Aminu if he's played out of position. Bennett will be better at PF, imo.

problem here is who is getting the minutes? there aren't a lot of minutes for Lopez and Len/Zeller to share if Davis and Anderson get the minutes they should....the team doesn't need more bigs. If they want to upgrade at C, Lopez will be gone, imo.

...Lopez is putting up 16 and 8 per 36 minutes with a great PER. he's young and cheap...I don't get bringing in another guy that likely won't produce like that his rookie season.

Lopez is a very solid 3rd big, imo...It doesn't really matter if he's the starter on paper

...Davis obviously has a lot of improvement coming, but Lopez and Anderson could continue improving also.

I think backup guards and SF are the biggest needs right now.

Shabbus = do not want

I truly haven't seen a player more over hyped than him in a long time.

What? Muhammad isn't really hyped up anymore than any big time guard coming into college. A weak draft up top is the only reason why people have him at #1. even then, He's wasn't even a unanimous #1 in a draft where people don't expect any superstars.

The last player to be hyped up as the next great was Drummond and he laid an egg at UConn.

If I remember correctly his measurables are going to be pretty bad. I think he is like 6'6 without shoes on. The dude can flat out score so I would be down with drafting him in the 2nd round somehow. He won't be a lotto guy.

IMO, it's a mistake to count on anything from this current draft to be an immediate upgrade. Not saying we can't get some help, but I think anyone we get will be a project (unless our draft choice turns out to be one of those surprises that come along once in awhile).

P.S. Don't tell WiskyMike. Boy'll get testy on you.

Don't really care for his pouting over another teammate taking and making the winning shot last night. Selfish behavior.
