| Tera: Rising (Posted on 2/7/13 at 3:09 pm)
So as of two days ago, Tera is now known as Tera: Rising and is now free to play. Anyone have any hands-on experience with this game? I'm downloading it right now. Help and tips are welcome. I'm excited to get to see the action combat system.

I posted a thread about it yesterday here. LINK Sadly, no one was interested then. I did play last night and saw a definitely player population increase. A lot of older players who stopped hopped back on. Still a lot of fun.

Tried it out and it looked good, but there was something with how the mouse look binds that I didn't like so I didn't play it again.

Which did you pick? It binds because it's use for aiming all ranged skills, including a lot of the heals in the game. I can see how that could bother some people, but I'm not a big MMO fan, so I don't have much complaint over it.

It bothered me until I upped the mouse sensitivity to like 85%. Now I can instantly look at whatever I need to without much mouse movement anyway so it's not a big issue. But I do agree. I've gotten in for a bit and it's a beautiful game. Getting to test out my new computer for the first time and it runs it on max settings with zero problems. Graphically it's a great game. The different races are cool, too. Right now I'm just making a ton of different characters in different classes to see which one I like. Didn't really like Slayer all that much. The auto-attacks are too clunky and slow for me. Sorcerer is definitely more fun, but I might make a Warrior next simply because I usually like rogue/stealth type classes to begin with. ETA: The ability to actually dodge attacks is awesome. Makes killing enemies so much more fun and exciting. Grinding doesn't really seem like grinding. You aren't forced to take damage like in other MMO's.

I think it was something like you had to use mouse look or using the mouse to click skills, but couldn't do both.

That's correct. With the action-combat setup, you have to use hotkeys and aim with the mouse. It is definitely a switch from the traditional style, but I've always been one for hotkeys anyway, so it's not a big deal for me. Your fingers are certainly busy. The combat itself is actually a challenge. It's not mindless button mashing. I actually like it. Keeps me invested even when I'm just doing a regular grind.

No feeling in three of my left fingers so wasd setup is a no go for me I use arrow keys, hence I won't be playing this game, but it does look like it could be a good one.

That stinks man. Yeah, it's definitely a much needed new flavor in the MMO scene.

Warrior isn't much of a rogue/stealth type, but they do have a lot of diversity. You can vet it to do all sorts of things. It can be an aggro tank/dps crit tank/pure dps, etc. The warrior I have is just a normal dps tank since my main is a lancer. eta, here's some neat panoramic screens that I found. The game really is pretty. LINK

I did, was directed to people who couldn't handle the playstyle of Tera. I actually downloaded it last night and tried it for about an hour. This game is amazing considering it is free. People who clicked in WoW will probably have a hard time though.

I was a clicker in WOW. It's why I had to quit, could never get my dps up to a decent level in raids.

It's actually not terrible in raids, it's pvp that you noticed the clickers/keyboard turners the most.
