quote:

‘This Neymar fella is massively overrated. Not in the same street as Messi or Ronaldo.

‘I wouldn’t pay the £40-50 million there asking for Neymar. Not a chance. #showpony.’

After the match, the reporters told him about Barton's comments and he responded:

quote:

‘I don’t know who he is. I just have to keep doing my job for the Selecao.

‘It did not go as I had expected or wanted. I would have liked to help the team more, but today was not my day. Next time.’

To which Joseph responded:

quote:

‘Looks like Neymar wasn’t happy with what I said about him. Just that I read and saw all this hype about him and expected something more…,’ said Barton.

‘Football is a game of opinions. If you don’t like that, this is not the game for you. I don’t get how people accept journalists calling out players for performance or attitude but when another player does, its deemed incorrect or not in the spirit of the game. It’s perverse.

Then he threw out this gem:

quote:

‘Neymar was playing after all against Cahill and Smalling, no disrespect to them but their not exactly Baresi and Beckenbuer and he never got a kick. I just refuse to believe the hype.#showpony’

When Piers Morgan told Barton that Neymar was just saying that he didn't know who he was, Barton once again responded:

He needs to stick to abusing the cast of The Only Way is Essex and Piers Morgan

Eh....not really. Unless you mean funny because he's that psychotic. Then yeah its hilarious that he's that clueless to how stupid he makes himself sound.

I think his ability to make people so mad is really funny. I don't think he's cool at all, but he does entertain me

He's an attention whore, crazy person, who still manages to piss everyone off. It's awesome. I wish he was in America so our media had to deal with him

i think it's so amusing that a player who's pretty irrelevant has maintained his spot atop the list of players everyone loves to hate.

Is it really that strange? Y'all continue to say that I'm irrelevant, but y'all also seem to hate me...
