T-P article today says Beckwith wanted to play LB but has "backed off that stance." He's listed at 6'3", 225 lbs. Why in the world wouldn't LSU play him at LB? I don't understand the preference for smallish DE's. Play the kid at LB and let him blitz the passer from there.

I certainly expect he begins at LB. First of all, I think he has real talent for the position. Plus, I do not see him being as good of a prospect at DE than any of our 4 D-End signees from yesterday.

Granted, if Herron and Bower put on some serious weight and get moved inside, then we might be onto something.

Have you seen the Chavis defense? We play speed at LB. He's only gonna put on wt once he starts working out with Moffit. We most likely will not have a 6'3" 260lb LB playing in a Chavis scheme.

He will play the position the coaches think are best for him. I think they are going to start him at Linebacker.

We don't Like smallish DEs we like fast DEs. If you are 270 and can play like mingo you are gonna be playing DE

He's athletic to play anything. I think he's our most athletic player on defense personally. He doesn't mind playing DE but he prefers LB. LSU will give him his shot but if doesn't perform, he will move to DE.

I honestly thought he would've been a better fit in Bama's defense and a bit surprised he didn't pick them over us. It seems like his natural instincts and athletic ability are better suited for a jack LB. The problem is his weight and how he'll be able to carry it. Can't see a 260lb in Chavis scheme...

He kinda reminds me of Denzall Devall from last year? Only I think he's a bit more athletic than him.

I've never gotten why he wants LB so bad, the money is at DE

There is money at both if he can play 3-4 OLB.

Man if KB and MJ work out we could have a huge LB core that can run. Both those guys will probably end up being 235-245lbs.

It is great to see LSU pulling in great linebackers the last few years.

I hope he does not pack on the Lbs.' I hope he gets a crack at using his athleticism at Linebacker. I also hope Herron and Bower don't bulk up too much, Montgomery and Mingo got a little beefier but not enough to move inside.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing Bower and Patterson and/or Beckwith put on some weight and stay at DE. IMO, our DE's have been a little too small lately. I would prefer them to be about 270. Mingo was awesome at containment, but when an OT got his hands locked on him, he wasn't going anywhere and they could run right by him. I think we need some slightly bigger DE's
