Nothing unusual in my opinion. The consensus #1 player in the country was going to Ole Miss, and other highly ranked recruits that built friendly relationships during these all-star games followed. The same thing happened recently with SC and Clowney.

Ole Miss caught lightning in a bottle. Kudo's to a job well done...

I'm glad we're back to being Ole Miss obsessed on the rant.

Nice change of pace from the never ending Bama obsession.

I don't see this as a pattern that will continue to repeat itself. There was a lot of luck involved.

The LSU Class of 2001 went a long way to starting something big at LSU. You can say the same things about the Bama classes on 2008 and 2009. The moral being, you don't need 3-4 recruiting classes to get there anymore with scholarship limits.

Hopefully, Ole Miss becomes a legitimate rival again. I know the games are always close and they do win their share, but the stories my dad told back in the 60's was pretty much LSU and Ole Miss were 1-2 in the conference (and sometimes the Nation).

If Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M, LSU, Ole Miss, State and Arkansas can all recruit well, then winning the West will really mean something down here, just not nationally! Face it, we all hate each other and its more fun when you have the year where everything lines up for you and can get some big time payback.

Alabama is still a cut above everyone else, but maybe it won't just be LSU being the only team who can take them down. And before you say 'but Texas A&M did it' just check who played Alabama the week before that game.

I get it about Robert Nkemdiche's brother. But its not like RN went out and recruited other 4-5 star players to jump aboard. Up until the last day he seemed to seriously consider LSU.
So does anyone have any real ( or second hand) insight into Ole Miss and how they pulled it off?
I've been to Oxford, seen the town and campus and don't understand it.

What's the matter? You don't like beautiful girls, good food, and a day in the Grove. Do you prefer obnoxious and constantly carping fans? You should enjoy Oxford and visit more often.

Every year there is a surprise team around #5-8 that catches lightning in a bottle. This year it was Ole Miss.

OK name a few teams from the last 3 yrs that have come under the radar to snatch 4 5* recruits? and not only that it is their coaches 1st yr really recruiting for a school in MISSISSIPPI that has never had any major success what so ever in the sport!! They have nothing special to pitch to these recruits that have offers to virtually every major program in the country!! Come on now you would have to be blind not to think something crazy is going on over there!

RN said something to the effect of "What difference would I have made at Bama or LSU?"

I guess it is commendable that he really does seem to be trying to make a real name for himself and be the first to up a school on the map rather than be a part of an established, well oiled defensive machine. Good for him. OM won't do crap, not with Bama and LSU still thriving, but I wish him individual success at least.

I gave the REAL answer to this question back on January 9th here LINK but only 1 person was able to read it carefully enough to understand it. Read it and THINK. Nkemdiche, by going to Ole Miss, was committing to MUCH MORE than living in Oxford. His way was being paved organizationally.I Don't care if you think I'm full of shite, btw.

Edit-And I'm not saying he was paid !!!

Yesterday on PTI (Pardon the Interruption), Tony Kornheiser actually said that the Ole Miss class is just "fishy," saying that he thinks some money might have switched hands. He went on about how Ole Miss isn't a top program and it's just inconceivable that it could pull this many top players in -- many of whom aren't even from Mississippi.

I've never heard a commentator be so f*cking blatent about a team cheating before anyone has ever "officially" accuse them.

Wilbon tried to be more diplomatic about it, but he was also baffled.

it is funny, and shitty for ole miss, that on one of their biggest sports days of the past 5 years, they get shite on by multiple national shows that all basically called them out for cheating their asses off

Oxford is consistently ranked as one of the top small towns in America. The campus is on numerous lists as one of the most beautiful in the entire country. Calipari, just last week, praised Ole Miss as having the nicest campus he had ever seen. Plus, Ole Miss has , per capita, some of the most beautiful coeds in the country. It's not too hard to understand.

When he spends his time at UMass, Memphis, and UK, Holly Beach would be pretty to him.

OM fans should just get over it. It comes with the territory. What did they expect, people to just shrug their shoulders when they pull in a freakish amount of 5* talent seemingly out of nowhere.

General wisdom would suggest that OM shouldn't be pulling in classes like this. Upon further inspection, you can see where this may have been a case of the stars aligning (no pun intended) but it's perfectly reasonable for anyone to wonder as to if there was some funny business going on.

After RN's mother, father, and brother got RN's mind made up for OM, RN then started calling and texting the other recruits that he met at the various all-star games trying to get them to OM. RN recruited these guys, not the OM coaches, so to speak. This was shown in a live interview on TV on our local television. He did say that if he didn't go to OM, it would have been LSU. RN did the recruiting of the stars.
