LaRon is about an every other week "should we?". Thus the replies have gotten pretty cohesive.
-worse than Harper in coverage
-will be a cap hit worse than Harper who we've already discussed cutting for that reason
-he did play better than most expected this year coming off a serious achilles and other injuries the previous two seasons

Stephen Peterman, Landry, Glen Dorsey, draft Mingo, Honeybadger, ... man, we're getting there

Claude Wrotten is rumored available, now playing for the Marion Blue Racers (Continental Indoor Football League)

Marlon Favorite and Skyler Green were on the Voodoo roster last year. Oughta be easy to get them.

Forgot about that. They said he is well over 300lbs. Might be the NT answer.

Not for the money he'll be seeking
This would be the only reason. He would without question be an upgrade.

I think IAQ is a better option than Landry or Jenkins.

I really hope whoever the new DC is gives IAQ a chance to compete for the starting job. I feel like we was rarely out of position when given a chance to see the field.

I found a good link on PFF about %s of 1st downs given up by safeties. Spolier: Jenkins and Harper are on the top 10, while IAQ is on the bottom 10.

Another note from about IAQ vs Jenkins/Haprer from Week 17.
quote:

With the Saints owning our two lowest-graded safeties this season, it’s been nice to see some production on the back end in the last few weeks in the form of Isa Abdul-Quddus. Forced into full time action with Malcolm Jenkins on IR, Quddus has responded extremely well in the last three games starting and playing 100% of defensive snaps. His performance against the Panthers marked the third time in four games – and his fourth on the season – that he’s graded at or above +1.9 in coverage, a mark neither Jenkins nor Roman Harper reached even once in a combined 29 games and over 2000 defensive snaps.

PFF also rated the safeties, Jenkins & Harper were #88 & 87 out of 88 ones rated

ouch. I was completely fed up with Jenkins this year. We all had such high hopes after the 2010 regular season, then the Seattle thing happened and it was all downhill from there

Jenkins has never recovered from the arse raping Vernon Davis gave him. Same with Roman Harper and Mike Williams.

I'm not saying sign him, but LaRon did just start in the Pro Bowl. He had a pretty beast year!

Harper clone my A$$.

LaRon can play both SS and FS by the way. He did it at Washington. Would have had two ProBowl years back to back if he would have gotten hurt last year with Washington. Might wanna check his stats compared to Harpers stats before you make that "clone" comment.

Any more questions. If we go by the stats other than INT's Harper the better safety. In other words a clone, yes.
