If it's a potentially dead-end job opportunity (i.e. getting fired after one season for not being a miracle worker with the junk he'd be inheriting) and he's likely on the short list for an internal promotion...then yeah, he might hate that prospect.

The Saints DC job isn't the only one he has been denied permission to interview for.

I know SF has a great defense but not every DC spot besides SF is a dead end.

why not eliminate the if/might and let him make the decision for himself?
