That's even worse. That's a bitch move by the entire 49er organization. So are they modern day slave owners now?

Donatell has lauded the 49ers' environment, and he hopes another year in the system will continue to make him a stronger candidate, the person said.

That tells you he's towing the company line on that one. I hope someone asks him that question next year.

Harbaugh =
I'm glad they lost the super bowl now.

You do realize the coaches have signed multiple year contracts, right?

Would you say its unfair for a team to not allow a backup player to seek out a starting position on another team while under contract?

He has no choice. He can't stop him from interviewing for a HC position.

I'm hoping the Saints find a capable DC and give him some time to implement his system and with his players.

I just want y'all to leave the 49ers' coaching staff out of your solution.

The statement also said "allowing", which he isn't. He has absolutely no say in the matter, so he is not "allowing" him interview.

He can't tell them no for HC interviews... did you not read the info in this very same thread?

Donatell
quote:

"They can do that. That's the way the system works and it's fair. It's fair because I signed that contract. I had a choice not to. You look at every year and make that decision.

quote:

"It's something I definitely aspire to do again, but I also realize I'm part of something special here now. I am under contract. Things are in place in San Francisco, if you look at what (general manager) Trent Baalke has done in the personnel department and the shape the roster is in. I know how hard it is to create this chemistry and harmony that Harbaugh has created here. It's a winning environment and attitude. He's created a great environment to work in."

quote:

"The gist of the story is, a lot of people would love to be coaching for the 49ers right now. And it's inevitable. He (Harbaugh) wants a big (coaching) tree. This tree is going to go over the next few years. We don't need to rush it. We need to enjoy it."

quote:

"Nothing is better than this. I'd give up the years of advancement to be a part of this. There is so much that goes along with it. This is the highest high. This is why you coach."

Sounds to me like he's fairly content with where he's at. Maybe he just doesn't want to join the defensive dumpster fire down there and just wants to stick around with a HC that has a handle on how he wants to run his defense instead of wanting a system change with no clear candidate in mind?

Sorry gang, but there are rules in this here NFL. Your organization doesn't get to break them all.

The DBs (really just the CBs) are by far the worst position group on SF's D and let the rest of the team down. It's a shame you can't have him.

You need people like me. You'd never be functional members of society without the occasional external influence bringing reason to an otherwise completely lost realm.

Yeah sure cause most people hate the chance for promotions and raises

You think when his contract is up he won't be willing to interview for a DC spot?

Maybe he wouldn't want the Saints job but his stance on not being able to interview ANYWHERE sounds more like he is being practical because he has no choice so why rock the boat.
