Went fishing again, but with a friend of mine this time instead of my brother. This guy bought our bayboat and wanted me to go with him in it to show him some stuff, so I obliged. (he twisted my arm haha)

We didn't have a great day, as the sun never came out to warm up my little oyster flat. But we still caught quite a few reds ranging in size from 14.5" to upwards of 30", as evidenced by the link below.

We made a move and put a few keeper specks in the box for him to go along with a few keeper reds we already had, and called it a day early...beating the rain.

This is me with the largest red of the day...

I'm not saying, I'm just saying. You cast like a girl. Of course I've never taped myself casting but in my minds eye I look like a pro.

And then I grabbed my arse like seven times looking for my pliers and my boga grip.

He only posted that one video so far. Truth be told, I didn't have a great day. He had already boated a couple, and I had just a couple short fish to my credit. I saw the GoPro mounted on the console and asked had he been shooting video, and he said, no, let me turn it on.

I made a cast at that point, two turns of the handle, boom! Nice red. Then he cut the camera and turned it back on to separate that clip, and I cast, made two cranks of the handle, BOOM! That red hit lol.

As far as the cast, it was a perfect cast, clearly. Substance over style, man.

Nice red! Just bought a 22 ft skeeter and taking it to hopedale for first trip this weekend. Any suggestions on bait etc would be appreciated. Bringing a buddy of mine who knows the area OK and our sons - looking to get my son his first red. He is 16 and feels slighted cause he has never caught one. Will post report after trip but again, any tips are appreciated.

Well I mean if I was taking a kid that hasn't caught a redfish ever, I'd pick up some fresh shrimp at the marina and put it under a cork. But I personally don't use "bait". I caught that one on a spinner bait with a pink/chartreuse (electric chickenish) color tail. But we've been catching them on just a jighead with black/chartreuse tails. I haven't caught a fish on a spoon all year, although typically that's all we fish in the spring thru fall.
