But it goes to pay the bills of a brewery who is willing to put out more interesting brews.

I agree with this, but I probably wouldn't pick up either Canebrake or an Abita product for their current price points. I would much rather pick up something more interesting for $10 a sixer than a wheat ale. Canebrake is my go to at a bar or restaurant on draft.

When I picked up my sixer at lunch the 7 foot tall cashier asked me if I heard about it here.

So you'll pay $4 to $5 for a pint but not $1.66 (eta: or less at many places) for a bottle?

I'll pay any amount, I'm not broke. Y'all got BNPs if you're complaining.

Yes, because the bar i go to most frequently has Canebrake for $4 a pint and other beers like Abita Amber, Newcastle, Guinness and Sam Adams for the same price.

Curious again.

Has anybody ever purchased a keg of Canebrake? Cost?

I have not, but if I had to guess I would say about $80 for a 1/6 barrel.

Hmmmm
My distributor doesn't have access to it.

I'm curious to know what kind of cuts retailer/Canebrake/distributor is taking here.

ETA: Gotta love the 3 party system

I'm looking to construct a kegerator out of an upright freezer exactly like yours. I've been scouring craigslist and the only ones I've sound sub $300 in BR are trash. Holding out hope

Agreed.

Canebrake is quite pedestrian.

I looked everyday for a couple of months and finally lucked out and found one for $75 in Abita. If you get an upright freezer, make sure it is self defrost and not manual defrost and has removable shelves.

Probably because Canebrake really isn't much better if at all than an Abita Amber

seriously?

i dont think canebrake is revolutionary or anything, but amber blows. ill happily pay $2 more a sixer of it over amber.

Retail prices are not set by the brewery. Just like the Grand Reserve, some stores are probably setting the price higher.

Rouses had Grand reserve at $12.99. Wasn't Calandro's selling it for close to $20? I know Steins was at $17.99.

$9.99 seems high for a sixer. If I want to buy an average local beer, I can get sixers for $7.99-$8.99

Totally agree. Everyone complains how shitty Abita is, then they want a good beer for the exact same price. I think it's a great beer and it's local, so I'll pay for it.

Most craft beer 6ers that dont have a high grain or hop bill, go for $9/6. Canebrake has always been $9 since I've bought it in laffy

Was $10 the few times I bought it there. Bought it from Marcello's. Price may have been spiked a bit though.

Anyone know when they are supposed to release Envie?

I love the argument that its to high at 9.99 but everyone seems fine paying 8.99 for other beer.

If you like the beer buy it, if not great, buy something else, but please get off the soap box about it being "overpriced" by a dollar.

Releasing the farmhouse IPA first. They were brewing envie this past weekend so sometime in march id say.

The first day it came out, it was $9 there. They went through something rediculous like 40+ cases in about 24 hours. So maybe they did bump up that extra dollar.

No shite, I mean you're talking about less than 20 cents per bottle more.

The age old supply and demand kicking in. Once Canebrake can meet demand, then I'm sure it will come down in price.

Yeah I agree with all this.

That's why I'm just curious to know who is doing the marking up. If/when Canebrake supply increases, it might pull back down to increase sales, or it might not, but I don't think the extra buck is going to stop anybody at this point w/ such a limited supply.
