Those are both fine weapons. Different styles of 1911 so you need to decide do you want more of a loaded option (the S&W) or a mil spec (the Springfield).

I love mine. Mine personally is a bit picky about magazines but I think that's only my specific one because other 1911s all run my stuff just fine. I just haven't felt like dealing with sending it back to S&W to get a tiny issue resolved. It works really well anyway.

It's a damn deal. Mine with night sights and a rail was $1199. I think you should hop on it.

What I love about the S&W ones (and the Ruger ones) is that they use a series 70 style firing mechanism. There is no firing pin block. The trigger is awesome out of the box. Couldn't be more pleased.

Think the lowest he would go would be $400 tbh. Low round count though

If that is the exact model of Springfield, that is a Mil-Spec, and $950 is steep.

shite, a year ago, you could get a loaded model Springfield for under $800.

That looks like an E series S&W. It has a MSRP of $919. Given the current supply of guns, $899 sounds like a good price. SA is known for making a solid gun, but that one seems a little overpriced for the features. OTOH, my old eyes would really prefer the higher profile sights of the S&W; the S&W's front strap checkering is nice also. If it were me, I'd prolly go for the S&W.

Somebody posted a web site on here a few days ago and they had a stainless Springfield 1911 for $600 bucks. I'm sure it was plain Jane but still it was a great deal.

LINK

Here's the link and the stainless start a $580 and run up to $1100. There is a nice one for $680 not sure if it had the same specs as the one at Cabelas.

Yeah, it may be old.

$600 is a pretty good price for a mil spec SA...........or at least it was a year ago. I passed on the chance to buy a loaded parkerized model for $750 at Jim's Firearms.

ETA: It was hard to find Springfield 1911's even before the shite hit the fan.
