Athletes Who Mouth off about Giving God All the Glory, Yet...

Do everything in their power to draw all attention to themselves with flamboyant dances, melodramatic falling out on the ground and mugging for the cameras...

doesn't jibe with my understanding of what giving God all the glory really means...makes me question their real motives...

Why don't you come out and just say that you don't like Ray Lewis?

You have a very discerning spirit. I doubt anyone else has picked up on that.

Wrong board and religious discussion

That's two strikes on this stupid thread

While I believe they are probably religious, they are probably no more, probably much less morally sound that you or I.

For everyone who thanks god for the win, someone can also blame him for the loss. And bad dance moves.

Lewis is just one example but there are many others who use God's name in vain by pointing to Him but openly acting like a bufoon and making it all about them.

Is religion not allowed on the OT amymore? I thought this was the default board once they cleaned up the poli board.

Nothing says being a 'good Christian' than passing judgement on someone because you feel you are better or know what's best for them.

And yet Tebow keeps his mouth shut and just plays, but he's "always throwing God in our faces."

I just don't get the hate.

lulz. I'm not "judging their souls"...I'm judging their actions and their words and it doesn't mesh...you need to educate yourself

And you should probably worry about things that matter, not Jacoby Jones and what he does post touchdown.

Shouldn't judge others

why not? we are called to use discernment of what is right/wrong/good/evil...if someone is claiming the Lord but doing it in a false way, it needs to be called out...only God knows the true ultimate destination of their soul...I can't and won't say, but its troubling.

People like Tebow, Lewis, etc. have been touched very strongly by the Holy Spirit. Regardless of their past neither is perfect as none of us are. They are using the success they have been blessed with as a public platform to witness in an effort to hopefully inspire others to be touched. I don't understand why some people have such a big problem with this.
