I would rather switch Jones and Bradley and put Benny where Bradley is.

He would roam forward more because Williams wouldn't go forward. Despite popular belief, you don't need 2 disciplined defensive midfielders. If Williams is willing to stay defensive then we'd be fine because Bradley is in incredible shape and can get up and down the field.

Also who said boca is def the captain? Not doubting it just curious, as I think he's fighting for 3rd in the "who's the best cb for the team"

Considering how shitacular we are at feeding our forwards, I'd rather have Bradley as a CAM than leave that glaring empty space open. Bradley covers so much ground, he can easily drop deep enough to compensate for Williams and Jones' poor passing range.

I'm not saying it's the best strategy, but Klinsmann loves Jermaine Jones and his penchant for picking up dumb yellow cards.

I wouldn't want to leave it open either. I think it would be beneficial to us to have an extra guy who's a good passer int he lineup. Bradley can still work box to box from farther back in the field.

Basically in defense it would look like a 4-3-2-1, and in attack he slots in between Zusi and Dempsey who are both fluid players in attack.

Any lineup that has Jones by himself as a holding midfielder is a no-go.

He'd get caught too far upfield, and do something ignorant in recovery and get sent off.

That's why I would defer to Danny Williams, rather than Jermaine Jones.

I agree, I wonder how much room for error Boca has with Omar breathing down his neck. Come Brazil '14 I fully expect Cameron and Gonzales pairing. As for the captain's band, I think Boca needs to pass it on soon, and certainly before Brazil, I'm thinking it's obvious Bradley is the Captain in waiting right?

+1, I've always said I wish we could find a dedicated CDM(I think Danny Williams) that would allow Bradley to push forward with consistency to feed the strikers.

Bradley or howard has to have the captain's band on their arm before 2014 imo.

although danny williams doesn't seem to menace the opposition as much as jermaine jones, let us not forget mr williams has 6 yellows in 12 starts and 15 total bundesliga appearances. jones has 3 yellows and one red in 14 bundesliga starts and 15 total bundesliga appearances.

this coupled with his first half debacle in Russia has me a little less convinced of his quality than the rest of you. his playing time at hoffenheim is also going to be on the downswing since they signed a better and veteran bundesliga DM eugen polanski to help them ride out of the drop zone. williams has completed 86% of his passes which is admirable, but i still dont think he's a "safe" start

opinionated. everyone has one on Izzy. At the end of the day he's an undisputed starter when healthy.. the cross against Spartak iirc to Samaras was completed.. heh.

He plays leftback for Honduras, and hasn't been a problem for us. probrem?

What's Holden's status?

I'm not expecting him to play in a meaningful qualifying match anytime soon, but is there any chance that he could get a gold cup call up this year, just so he can atleast get back in the USMNT process?

I'd be fine with Bocanegra + Gonzalez in the back and Cameron+Bradley+Feilhaber in the center.

Well, except for the fact that Feilhaber didn't make the trip.

Maybe Jurgy can shoehorn another player like Brad Evans into that role.

Except that he isn't.

I've never seen him play left back for Honduras, and I've watched a few of them.

Not match fit and he probably wouldn't have been called in if fit. He's only been at Stoke for a few days.

Agreed, I think it should go to Bradley, someone who's the heart of the team and is also in the middle of all the action.

Stu has already rehabbed his way through the reserve games and has logged decent minutes with Bolton, I'd say give him another 2-3 months and we'll see him back on the USMNT.
