There is no comparison, IMO.

The 1990 film is a sci fi classic. Better story, graphics, dialogue, and actors. What say you?

I agree completely, it's as if the 1990 version is a much improved remake of the 2012 version if that makes sense

Total Recall 2012 reminds me of the movie Sunshine. Some great visuals and some great ideas, but the action oriented majority of the movie doesn't jive well or advance the potentially great ideas initially put forth in the movie.

I think for a scifi chase movie the 2012 TR isn't bad, but while the 1990 version maximized the cheesy world it had to work with, 2012 version just plays it by the numbers once the action begins.

It was ok to watch for a new sci fi flick. But the cheesiness you say about the original is what makes it so much better. They did it on purpose.

Good thinking. Because it sucks. I know alot of people hate Arnold but he did the role perfectly, IMO

Well it was an 80s movie as well. But look at its contemporaries for scifi action/chase movie. Running man for instance, they were in the same category of movie, scifi chase movies with social commentaries. (And with Arnold of course.) But Total Recall is far superior in so many ways. Cheesiness goes hand in hand with so many genres in the 80s, but comparitively, the first Total Recall was just a much more successful film, regardless of its time relative faults, than the recent version.

If you forget about the first Total Recall and just watch it on it's own terms, you will probably enjoy it. Its not really that bad at all, just not very good either.

Love it. Also, i miss the days of stop motion and animatronics.

Don't get me wrong though, I like CGI when it's integrated in the movie correctly. Like Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park.

They didn't mean for it to be cheesey. That shite was serious business back then.

You are absolutely correct. T2 and JP were classics and created the new revolution of CGI.

The most recent sci fi flick that was great was Dredd IMO.

I am talking about the one liners and dialouge.

Did Michael Ironside's role remind you of Scanners?

I think it is in Arnolds contract with any movie, that it must contain this.
