Looking for an affordable smoker for the home. Only cooking for three so I don't need a huge one. Out of the choices of Charcoal/wood, electric and propane, which is best. I think the BGE is out of my price range but what about the Weber? Thanks for any help.

I just got a kamado joe......it seems to work pretty good.......just a few bones cheaper than the BGE.

There are just two of us and I have an electric one. Personally I love it. I call it the crock pot of smokers - I just put the meat on there and leave it alone - no checking to make sure you have enough wood. I am happy with mine but I am not a smoker expert who has tried lots of different kinds.

I've BBQ'd on many different levels and cost of smokers. The man difference is the size and ability to hold the temp you want. The finished product is typically similar. With that said I use a pos salamder style from academy and my only complaint is having to mess with it to keep the temperature It was 125 bucks.

I always get many complements on my BBQ.

If I where you I would get. Cheap smoker, not electric, and learn on it till you decide you want to move up to a horizon or Oklahoma smoker. The karmado joe and BGE are fine pieces of equipment too.

I still love my electric Cookshack I got a few years ago. So simple to use & great flavor. I don't have any complaints. About $600 for the smaller model when I purchased it.
I'm smoking a brisket right now.

Get the 18 1/2" WSM. Affordable, easy to control temp and has double racks when you need to cook for more then 3. I have one of these in my smoker collection.

Man, electric is so damn easy. I've got nothing but praise for mine (Cookout Supply Co. by Cajun Injector).

I have one of those duos with a fire box. Works ok. But my wife doesn't like smoked things.
