No matter where you are in Alabama, it's worth driving to Saws in Homewood to eat the best BBQ in the country.

Saw's is great, though I prefer the new location in Avondale to the one in Homewood.

Other good spots in Birmingham:

Demetri's has great smoked wings.

Moe's BBQ has great wings and pulled pork.

Carlile's has a very good open faced pork sandwich with a thin, vinegar based sauce.

No.

Rusty's BBQ in Leeds has the best ribs (dry rub) I've ever had.

Saw's, original golden rule (the one in irondale, don't talk to me about the other ones), Moe's, ad Dimitiri's are all very solid as well.

Both are outstanding. There's something about the original location that gets me.

But Avondale has more choices. Their oyster sandwich is to die for.

Also, the new location near Mountain Brook has the best fried chicken I've ever had. They brine it in sweet tea.
