is a 14ft boat with a 9.9 feasible on that river..?

Perhaps on parts of the Amite and not during the weekend. I wouldn't get on the Diversion in anything less than a 20' during the summer on the weekends...

alright..we still have to talk about it once the kids go to bed and decide if we want to try to buy something now or wait 6 months until im done with my engineer (railroad) training...either way i dont think the price will change as much as we are paying rent..i just like this area so much now, its easy to get everywhere and so close to everything..but i miss the country feel and where that house is and everything around there is what i like...the house is close to highwater road which made my wife and i look at each other and wonder if that was a coincidence...lol

re: thoughts about French settlement area...

I lived there for 13 years and hated it. Both of my kids played sports and they made good grades. If your not from there ,the school treats "out of towers" horrible. There was too many things that went wrong to list. The main problem was that the "local "bullies in school. My son was 13 at the time and a freshman at FSHS when he was getting bullied by a group of seniors. Well one day the main bully a 17 year old punk sticks gum in my sons hair. My son turns and takes a swing but missed and the bully walks off laughing. My son gets home that evening and gets off the bus and a group of seniors are waiting for him. They are telling him to get in the truck, that senior that stuck the gum in his hair wanted to fight. My son says no but then they start calling him a pussy so my son gets mad and gets in the back of the truck(I'm still at work and so was my wife)They take by son to a bar called Hill Top INN well they walk in the woods and the senior was waiting and sucker punches my son..My son fights back but isn't strong enouch at 13. Anyway I get a call at work from some young girl at work telling my son is at this bar and is beat up. I get in my truck flying there and there is bleeding and muddy. He's pretty upset but near as much as me and my wife. Then I find out that they posted it on youtube and by this time I'm furious . I kinda of knew the other kids dad. I told him I was gonna kick this kid's arse and his too. The local hick sherriff got involed and wanted to sweep it away. We called the prinipal and he didn't seem like he wanted to do shite. My wife decided that night that she was going to home school him. This all happened the day before Katrina hit. Well our house was destroyed in Katrina (oak tree right the middle of our house} and we moved another town in the parish with no problems. My son is now a freshman at LSU.

We were talking about the incident not long ago and he said that he was winning the fight before the video started but another senior came from behind and picked him up and threw him on his head , He didn't tell me because he didn't want me going to jail....I got chocked up when he told me again

I know that's along story but it's true

What year was that? I know a whole lotta people down there. If that would have happened to one of ours, there would have been some arse kicking going on

ETA: read all of that - I know several people who were in school at that time

To answer your question, I personally LOVE that area. Its beautiful and quiet and doesnt have a ton of crime. We cant move out of our parish bc of my hubs job, otherwise thats where we would be
