The 49ers' linebacker Ahmad Brooks and nose tackle Isaac Sopoaga, both of whom participated in the team's widely-praised "It Gets Better" video last summer, have denied ever producing the clip.

"This is America and if someone wants to be gay, they can be gay," Brooks told the publication. "But I didn't make any video." Later, after he was reportedly shown the video on an iPhone, the player clarified, "Oh, that. It was an anti-bullying video, not a gay video."

Even more curiously, Sopoaga also denied taking part in the clip, even as a teammate reportedly tried to jog his memory. "I never went," he declared. "And now someone is using my name."

It's ridiculous how these grown men are so homophobic that even any insinuation that they were associated with a pro-gay campaign gets them all riled up.

Why do blacks hate gays so much? Especially black athletes it seems. Serious question.

What's ridiculous is all the non-football shite that has been reported all week. Freakin' joke.

Tigerdroppings hates ESPN. And rightfully so.

No, it's ridiculous that the term homophobic even exists.

One black dude and one Samoan. Why are you trying to make it a race issue?

Did you miss the other 49ers player this week making anti-gay comments? Tim Hardaway? Maybe its more of a topic for the OT or poliboard but there's a distinct racial component to it. It's like they are incredibly insecure of being associated with gays

You should do that. You're going to get a lot of white guys who think like Hardaway and Culliver.

Who said anything about gay marriage? These two guys were so insecure about being associated with a video directed at mainly gay youth that the denied having done it

ETA: Irrespective of the political/racial elements, it's just idiotic that they denied it

black people are definitely more homophobic in general than whites. In California blacks voted 70% in favor of not allowing same sex marriage.....less than 50% of whites did. There were similar results in NC.

I don't think its a religious thing....for'some it is. Maybe they're pissed another minority group is whining about something.

decent article on it

Maybe it has to do with gays trying to act like they are in the same boat as minorities regarding past struggles and injustices.

They made a video aimed at stopping young kids from killing themselves.

Being kind, its at the very least, strange that they would try to act like they didn't make the video.

Even if you're anti gay everything, nobody should complain about urging children not to resort to suicide.
