What do you do if a good 3 wood is 5 yards behind a good driver?

Back off to a 5 wood just to keep good gaps at the top of your bag?

Ditch the driver

Get a driver with more loft. Most players would be good with an 11 or 12 degree one.

Well this may sound crazy but the driver is not the problem. The 3 wood is just averaging about 290 off the tee.
And yea yea, I know, I'm lying and that's bull shite and all that. My swing speed with a driver is about 118-120. And I'm not bragging because I have some serious problems with my game. just distance off the tee isn't one of them. But why hit a 3 wood when it is basically a driver with a different head. it is a RBZ tour 14.5 by the way.
And 5 yards gap is a tad exaggerated, But the point is the same. I just want a bigger gap between the two clubs.

I would stop using a driver. You don't need one.

Not so sure I could ever bring myself to seriously play a round of golf without a driver in the bag.

Shoot if I hit the ball 250+ down the fairway consistently with a 3 wood I'd bench the driver and never look back.

knew it. these things are almost TOO long, they aren't subject to the same face and ball speed specs as drivers are for some reason
BTW 120mph swing speed is elite, average on the PGA Tour is only around 112

i'd take off 8-10 mph to be able to work it and place it like they can... Fo Sho!

Drop driver and add a wedge.

It's not uncommon. I can take my 3wood off the tee up to 260 or so. Plenty enough for any average course

Can't add any wedges. I've got scor wedges all the way up to 41* (9 iron) with consistent gaps down to 57* (LW)

I knew some kind of mockery was coming.
The swing speed was just useful info in this conversation. That's all.

I sure did. I made 9 on the first 5 holes and quit.
