I wanted one of the two QBs before we signed Brees. After we got Brees I was fully on board for Bush and thought we'd just drafted a MEGA star. I thought Houston had done us a massive favor.

I knew Payton was boom or bust. Figures he was gonna have us in tme playoffs consistently or be looking for a new job in 3 years. I was actually talking to some from our ATL location at work about this today. Both of us thought that Payton was gonna be really good or really bad, and thought the Mike Smith was just going to be mediocre for the falcons. Guess we were both right.

On Bush, I was happy we drafted him, and to tell you the truth, he didn't live up to it on the field per se but he did exactly what he was drafted for. Bring excitement and put arses in the seats.

I had wanted Sean McDermott so I was disappointed at first. Until I read up more about Payton.

He is why I got season tickets. I am forever in his debt.

I thought he'd be okay, kinda indifferent. I wasn't too excited about the possibility of the Saints drafting Leinhart though. Whenever, I found out that the Texans were drafting Mario Williams, I was pumped, because as soon as he agreed to a contract, the Saints said they'd be taking Bush.

After the terrible season that was '05, I was just ready to move on to anything. I liked Brees ever since I watched his game against Kansas State. I thought SD bailed on him too soon and was incredibly excited we got him. I thought there was no way Houston was passing on Bush. But they did and we got him. I thought Bush would be really good, but knew he could never live up to the hype. I knew Payton had been stripped of his play calling duties in NY which worried me a little, but like I said, I was ready to move on and was excited.

I will. I was between VY and Bush before the Saints got Brees. I really REALLY wanted VY after the NC and after years of the backwards pass.

When they signed Brees I was a little skeptical and totally surprised that Benson wiped away the cobwebs from his wallet for a $60mm contract!

From there, I was all about Bush but thought we had NO chance at him. I laughed at the Texans.

As far as Payton, I didn't know enough, but was as happy as could be that Haslett was gone.

All worked out in the end though.

Initial reaction was I thought he didn't look the part of a head coach. ( I don't know why that is. I just didnt) I heard his name before as an OC and I was really glad that we were getting an offensive mind. The one thing that stood out that I liked is he worked under Parcells and had some of the same philosophy and Discipline. Looking back now I'm glad we got Sean because how he carries himself and keeps everything under wraps. Honestly he wasn't my first choice. I wanted a big name and I don't remember who I was pushing for at the time but it wasn't Sean. That's why I'm just a fan

As for Brees I was very very excited when we signed him. Me and my good friend were stationed in Kuwait. We ordered his jersey the day he signed. As for Bush, I hated the move initially. I wanted the team to draft defense. Preferably trade back and take AJ Hawk. It all worked out.

When he got hired i didnt know of him at first. But then iseen a clip when he was coaching at Dallas. Parcells told him we need a touchdown pass then Payton says " thats why im calling the fricking play" after seeing i knew we atleast had a coach that will light a fire under the players asses.

Can you link me? I'd love to see this.

This.

When I first heard it, I thought "who?" But then started looking and knew he was with PArcells. If he could be a part of what they did in Dallas and win 9-10 games (I think) despite of Jerry and Quincy??

Yeah, I know I was the only one

And I was very excited to get Reggie Bush. I laughed at the Texans for taking Williams and passing on a "once in a generation" type player. Bush has his ring, but Mario was clearly the #1 pick.

I'm pretty sure if I hadn't gotten my tickets, somebody else yould have.

That said, I had planned on getting them when we signed Brees...the Bush news just altered the time frame.
