I'd go to see Nero. Nero's music and mixes are top notch IMO. Anyone who thinks EDM isn't real music should quit typing.

ETA: ticket prices are steep, although it is for both days. Didn't know Japandroids will be there. Bon Temps

Some big names. Calvin Harris and Nero are the only ones i'd go see live. Good to see someone is making it down there. In Denver last weekend we had Rrose, Adultnapper, 500+ at a psytrance show, Okenfold @ Beta (#1 club in the US) and Disco Biscuits all on a Saturday night. Everyone had a good attendance, too.

It's been a pretty slow year. A few yeasr ago all within a one year span there were several decent to "big" names doing shows here:

Tiesto
Skrillex (multiple times)
Porter Robinson (multiple times)
Afrojack (was scheudled but cancelled I think)
Pretty Lights
Ghostland (multiple times)
Wolfgang Gartner

That's all in addition to anyone that came down for Voodoo and Buku.

ETA:

Oakenfold
Above and Beyond
Knife Party
12th Planet
Green Velvet

How does this work?

It's not something I'd jump and try without reading up on re-bid zones and getting a general idea of what to bid.
If you use betterbidding.com and go to the New Orleans section, you'll find a thread with a list of the hotels that are usually in each star range.

Honestly, if you're bidding for Buku, I can tell you that you can probably get another 4-star for $60 like I did. If by some chance it denies you, you could definitely get a 3-3.5 star for that price.

The re-bid methods are the trick. Once a bid is rejected, you cannot just bid more money. You must either pick another area in addition to your area or pick another star level in addition to your level. The best re-bid method if they're just denying your bids on say, 4 stars, is to pick areas that don't have ANY of 4-stars.. like Kenner or something. Then you up your bid, and they have to give you 4 star because it's what you chose. So you won't be stuck in Kenner.

I suck at explaining and this probably all sounds very confusing to you, but play around on betterbidding.com and you'll learn how it works.

Keep in mind, you don't know what hotel you'll get until it is booked. You are bidding blindly. But I promise anything with a decent star level will be just fine. They have to go by the stars and area you choose.

I got my hotel a week or so ago. I would assume it's still fairly easy, but as the weekend gets closer, they might deem it a "busy" time and bidding will be difficult.

For example, you could never go Name Your Own Price for Mardi Gras or Jazz Fest or Superbowl

its terrible. they will keep a line of people outside like its jam packed inside and when you walk in the place isnt crowded at all. expensive drinks. bouncers are a-hole. most bartenders suck. the regular crowd sucks. everyone is on drugs(which can be good but here it sucks).

Aoki is way more poop. Unless you enjoy having cake thrown on you. Sorry I hate Aoki, but like some dubstep, probably biased

dont let me convince you its some hell hole. ive been kicked out of the place 3x so i might be a little more bitter than the next guy. just jam to the music and you will be good. ive seen plenty of shows there after i made up my mind that i hated the place. good music can make you forget where youre at

Yeah frick that. I saw aoki for like $30 last year.
And I don't "love" aoki to the poster above but I still can handle his music way better than flux.

Flux kills me.

I don't mind a bit of dubstep mixed into a more upbeat song (ie drum step) but just woooomp vibrations kinda bore me. It doesn't help that dubstep has somehow managed to grab every obnoxious fan on earth lol

Yes. The only bad things about having it there is you'll be dealing with the regular crowd.

They are normally closed on Sundays, but last year Above and Beyond did a random show there one Sunday night, so the only people there were people that knew Above and Beyond was there. Didn't have to deal with any of the regular Friday/Saturday night crowd. They did a 3 hour set and it was incredible.

I'm still trying to figure out who got A&B to come down here on a random Sunday with nothing else going on that weekend....
