8 rounds of .45 has more knockdown power than 15 rounds of 9mm.

Interesting.

Glock- works everytime. Simple. Load shoot repeat. Clean every now and then if you like. Simple to use and perfect for protection.

1911 - Pretty but like a pretty woman it takes a lot of maintenance. If you like to shoot and take it apart to learn the mechanics, then get 1911.

Women & 1911's are finicky, and many are less than dependable.

If you end up needing a gun, you'll probably really need a gun -- that works.

Glocks are ugly, but they work (as do M&P's SIG's and HK's), and they carry a reasonable amount of ammo (as do M&P's, SIG's and HK's). All the other stuff (most of which is nothing more than b.s. collected from the internet) is immaterial by comparison.

How and the hell are people questioning the reliability of the 1911, a pistol that has seen service in every conflict we've been involved in for over a century. Someone should inform the Force Recon Marines, FBI HRT operators, LAPD SWAT team, and the list goes on, that their preferred sidearm is unreliable and as finicky as a woman.

1911 in 357sig would be the ideal sidearm IMO
