nice story-

It was a special moment at Glenwood Academy on Monday night.

The Gators were hosting the Lakeside Chiefs in the final home game of the season, but that was secondary.

At halftime of the boys game, Gator football star Frank Warren IV was presented with his late father’s New Orleans Saints Jersey.

Frank Warren III played at Auburn in the early 1980’s and was drafted by the Saints in 1983, starting a 13 year NFL career.

He passed away at age 43, when Frank IV was just eight years old.

Monday, Opelika native and Saints linebacker Will Herring presented the son with his dad’s jersey.

“I know he is looking down on me and is proud of me,” Warren said. “He paved the way for me. So now all I have to do is execute. That’s what I have to do for him.”

Warren III’s impact made an impression on Herring.

“Hearing about his dad’s legacy from some of the people who’ve worked in New Orleans for the Saints for decades, he was a great man,” he said. “A kindhearted guy. For Frank to be doing what he is doing now, walking in his father’s footsteps, I’m excited for him.”

Warren IV was named the AISA All-Star team this season.
