Using that word a bit liberally, aren't we? But I couldn't agree more. It's this kind of attitude that's left modern country music to whatever thirteen year old girls feel like listening to.

Shelton is right from the perspective that he is pandering to the audience that buys the shite he puts out. Not a lot of country that is close to real country out there to buy. My favorite over the last several years is Jamey Johnson. He is about as old school as it gets in the current environment.

Pisses me off. I went to a brantley gilbert concert here at the river center not long ago because my girlfriend at the time wanted to go. That is the type of shite people call country now. More like hillbilly white trash rock and roll. The dude was out there on stage in a black wife beater with a silver chain and up there cussing up a storm, crossing his arms and shite like a rapper or something. It was the biggest joke. I cannot believe people buy that shite.

I despise New Country too and I love 90s country but if you recall at the time folks used to bitch about 90s country being too pop. And 80s country before that. Kind of like Saturday Night Live, where no one likes the cast until 10 years later.

Nobody wants to listen to their grandpa’s music,” Shelton said, adding, “And I don’t care how many of these old farts around Nashville going, ‘My God, that ain’t country!’ Well that’s because you don’t buy records anymore, jacka**. The kids do, and they don’t want to buy the music you were buying.”

This coming from a guy who didn't get mainstream until he became a judge on a "pop" tv show.

Also, the Merle's, Cash's, Nelson's of C&W were talented enough to write their own music not some pre-packaged bullshite many modern artists rely on.

I'm not even a big fan of country music (casual fan at best depending on the artist), but Blake Shelton is really starting to get annoying. the only reason he is where he is at today is because of The Voice so I guess its not surprising to hear him make comments like this. he benefited the most out of any of the other judges on that show. he was just a regular, fairly famous in the country world artist before The Voice and now he is a house hold name because of his personality on that show. its pretty pathetic to see him run his mouth like that.

I agree a lot of new country... a la Jason Aldean is popish. But there are still some good "Throwback" artists out there like Chris Young and Easton Corbin.

Hank Jr will sh!t all over that former-mullet wearing DB otherwise known as Flake Shelton.

I will fire up Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain, Luchenback, Texas, The Blues Man, DAC or anything by Merle before I listen to that two-bit slave to the trend.

Flake,
