Story here.

He's one of my favorite working actors, so I'm excited to see this. Hope he gets a lot of screen time.

They're going to CGI the Rhino to be a monster like the Lizard was?

Don't know.

FWIW, Giamatti has been wanting to play Rhino for a while. He was on Conan two years ago saying he wanted the new series to include Rhino, and he wanted to play him. Says he's been a fan since childhood.

I figured Rhino would be further down on Spiderman's Rogues Gallery for him to fight in the second movie of the second trilogy. I know they are going out of their way to avoid using old villains, but I'm starting to suspect we're going get more than three movies this time around.

Besides Venom, Spider-man has the worst villains.

Spiderman has to fight Rhino and Electro now? Having two villains worked out so well for Spiderman 3.

Most of Spiderman's villains are nothing more than collection of guys who undergo some science experiment that goes horribly wrong and gain powers and then use them to become super-villains. It's a decent basic plot that is used in comics to distribute powers to bad guys to create "super-villain of the month" style stories. The problem is that this isn't how movies should function.

Outside of well developed characters like Green Goblin, Dr. Octopus, and Venom, few Spiderman villains have enough character development that can supplement a 1.5-2.5 hour movie. The Lizard had potential with the whole "Curt Connors is a tragic figure but the Lizard is badass villain", but they still needed to supplement it with the origin story to make it a movie.

Everyone else is either a badass villain with little supplemental (Electro, Carnage, Hydroman, Sandman, Vulture) or story-centered characters that aren't worth getting too excited over (Hammerhead, Kingpin, Kraven).

I'm surprised they haven't done Morbius the Living Vampire considering how vampires are all the rage these days.

Jaime Foxx Electro I'm not so sure about but I liked the first one so I'll hold off judgement. I do like Giamatti a lot, I think he will do well as Rhino.

If they do Venom, they should do carnage in the same film, I honestly believe that's the only two villain movie that will work.

I was thinking the same thing. Paul Giamatti would be a great Rhino though.

This might be the only way I could watch him in a movie. Skeeves me out. His whole demeanor is just
so cloying and desperate to me. Couldn't watch Sideways because of him...and the second I saw those eyes underneath the ape makeup in Planet of the Apes my stomach got into a knot. I know it's not right, but is visceral. I only got over my hatred of Eric Roberts from Star 80 when I saw him in The Dark Knight...maybe enough time had passed.

This worked great in Private Parts.

It's interesting and that's what this movie needs.

And Spider-Man has a great rogues gallery. Most of them are doppelgangera of Spider-Man - obtaining great power and strength, but instead of using their power responsibly, they set out to harm those they felt wronged them and receive what the world owes them.

And Venom is one of his most one more villains. He's beloved because he simply looks cool.

bullshite. It is generally accepted that Spider-man's rogues are at least #2 in the comic world.

That is a statement begging for an argument.

Batman and Superman have rogues who are much better than Spiderman. I would even say the X-Men have a rogues gallery to cripple Spiderman. Spiderman may be a great hero, but his villains are not nearly as intricate and entertaining as he is.

Jamie Foxx as Electro is going to be bad enough to ruin two movies.
