Wow.
This thread is still going.
To blame Loomis for the defense but give no credit for the offense is extremly contradictory. I've always thought Loomis was not very good to put it nicely at the start with the Saints. He perhaps had his hand in too many things. But better coach signings and working more on the numbers side has led to the golden age of the Saints.
If you want him fired who is available that you believe will bring us more rings than Loomis?

To blame Mickey for being too beans counter and not good enough at the talent evaluating side is no different than blaming Payton for being to offensive minded and not a good enough head coach in all aspects of his team. Payton is not the Saints offensive coach, he's our Head Coach and responsible for all that is under him.

7 years to put together a decent defense and he's been a total failure. Multiple major scandals.

What multiple scandals? Bountygate was pure bullshite and the eavesdropping thing was also bullshite because it just disappeared when he threatened to sue ESPN.

Was it? The NFL just made it all up out of whole cloth?

NFL painted a pay to injure scheme and based the penalties accordingly and used that philosophy to justify their actions also by using 2 incredibly weak sources of confirmation and punished a franchise that did the same thing that a majority of the NFL was doing for 50 years with a pay for performance scheme.

Here's an exercise: list the players drafted on defense under Loomis. How many have been worth a damn?

Idiot, Loomis isn't deciding who to draft.

New Orleans Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis signed a five-year contract extension in August, Saints spokesman Greg Bensel said Monday night.

And we are just now finding out about it 5 months later. Another win for the local sports media...

the front office has done a better job with free agents over the last few years. But most the draft picks especially on defense have been... shitty.

edit: remember the days of bringing in guys like Michael Haynes and Sean Dawkins through free angency?

at least the FO brought in some guys who have made an impact on defense like Vilma,Sharper, and Greer. The Franklin signing was just a little too early. Still wish we had that guy, he would be a solid 3-4 nose tackle.

I like how people think this is a positive. Lol.

A GM that doesn't evaluate talent...

With as bad as our drafts have been, just think if we actually had someone that knows what they are doing. The Saints would prob have 3 Super Bowls if Ozzie Newsome was our GM

Randy Mueller won it too. He was never granted immunity though.

If having Loomis here keeps Payton here, I'm all for it. Plus he's great with managing cap space. What's so bad about this?

Why don't the Ravens have 3 or more rings by now?
Anyone?

And then we wouldn't have the cap room to resign them all, draft a mixture of losers an sprinkle some winners in their for true long term success
