I bottle from my taps all the time and don't lose any carbonation with my counter pressure filler. You could use the counter pressure filler to fill bottles to give out to friends and to age some bottles.
Interesting.

I bottle straight from the tap on my keg and don't have any issues losing carbonation.

I've twice brewed a bourbon-barrel porter, and neither time was I able to get much in the way of carbonation to take hold. I kegged 90% of the first batch and bottled the rest. Kegged 100% of the second batch. The bottles from the first batch were flat as water, and the kegged batches had a little fizz but not much. I wonder if there is something in either the bourbon or the oak chips that inhibit carbonation?
Either way, the stuff is delicious, especially when its a little cooler outside.

I would invest in or borrow a counter pressure filler.
You can build an effective bottle filler for under $20, and that includes the cost of a spare disconnect.
I've bottled beer from a picnic tap and the carbonatio was pretty much the same over a year later.
