Wut? You're perceived lack of quality of responses has prevented you from leaving the board? Ok.

The players were never to blame. The coaches (or a coach) fostered the environment.

How hard did Goodell try to make his point to stop the PFP?
From what little we know not very.
If your going to lay down the harshest penalties in NFL history you make damn sure they know whats coming.
From what little we know this did not happen.

you mean Saints fans on New Orleans Saints Talk are discussing what the OP asked them to discuss and defended their team. That is fricking shocking

way to ignore the rest of the post btw

what were the mistakes that the saints made?

I will, but I won't forget, and I won't let the revisionist historians to go on spouting their nonsense uncontested.

THE COACHES FOSTERED AN ENVIRONMENT THAT LED TO LEAGUE VIOLATIONS.

Sorry for cap lock on phone.

Yes, we are very guilty of harsh language and hitting opposing QB's. It almost sounds like *gulp* football.

what league violations?

What evidence were there of these league violations? Did the league violations match what the NFL claimed the league violations were? Did it match other punishments that other teams got for the league violations?

Why don't you call Coach Payton and ask him?

Statement from Saints Head Coach Sean Payton

I am thankful today Commissioner Goodell has granted me reinstatement. As I stated back in March, “ I, along with Mickey Loomis, take full responsibility for all aspects of our football program.”

I clearly recognize that mistakes were made, which led to league violations.

Furthermore, I have assured the Commissioner a more diligent protocol will be followed.

Lastly, I feel we have learned from our mistakes and are ready to move forward. I want to thank our owner, Mr. Benson and all of our great fans for the overwhelming support throughout this past year.

I am excited to be back as Head Coach of the New Orleans Saints!

i know what Sean Payton said. I want to know what he thinks the mistakes were.

The Saints have admitted to a pay for performance system. That is not what we were punished for

Payton won't talk about it until he's out of the league.

You're right Pat, the Saints are innocent and Goodell chose them for the example to the league out of a hat. (At random)

That can't be your position.

No, that's not my position. My position is Goodell was sold a BS story by an ex-employee, believed him, and didn't do enough fact checking before he levied his punishments. Remember what they were accused of initially: that they were putting money on specific players to take them out of games, mainly Favre. You heard them say Vilma put 10k on Favre. They stopped making those statements to the media. Instead their narrative became "pay for performance is a bounty program," the program the players publicly admitted to. The same type of program the previous commissioner said was fine.

We went 7-9 even with that pitiful arse defense and no coaching.

So no, I don't think it's too farfetched. It's almost an absolute certainty we at least get in.

He cost you nothing. Your team was under investigation and continued to do stupid shite. Fault is your own organizations only.

So how do those sweet tears of disappointment taste? Another year of hope lost. Oh and I mean for UGa as well as the Falcons. That's really gotta hurt after getting a dick in your a$$ twice just a few weeks apart. Go F yourself and DIAF in that order.
