I think this mentality will fade over time

This change is something that should have happened decades ago. It's not much more different than creating classifications based on school enrollment.

People who oppose change are always going to go a little crazy for a while.

don't really see a big problem with it.

Neither do I.. but it's only for the pro-split supporters to recognize that private schools aren't the only ones bending the rules.

Well we are a small Catholic 1 A school .. from what I understand when it comes to playoffs, 1 A and 2 A will play against each other.

THAT doesn't seem fair to me at all. Will not be surprised if Catholic/private schools pull out of the LHSAA and go to something on their own.

Exactly, it's not a one sided situation where private schools are the only people bending the rules.

Gerrymandering the districts, administering waivers to students that live outside the zones (that happened to be athletes), allowing some student-athletes to use phony addresses within the school's district.

And handing out jobs to parents in order to get them to move into the district.

You could argue that these dirty little ways exist only because of the advantage that has now been "eliminated" and that they will now stop, but they won't. In fact, the advantage has now been shifted to the schools with more resources to do these things.

"The private schools have an advantage, its unfair" is such bullshite. It's a few schools. The rest of the private schools are getting their shite pushed in just as much, if not more because it's harder to get low income athletes to go to a school with a tuition. Now the private school championship will be a joke with a few teams just destroying everyone year in and out.

Your post underscores the jackass that you are and that there is a real need for you to be marginalized in society.

nd specifically three or four privates, were playing by a different set of rules that made the efforts of all the other schools irrelevant.

Exactly. Three or four schools. So who is gonna make it fair for the rest of the private school?

Agree, but for years, the LHSAA commissioner (both of them) and executive committee refused to do anything about the main culprits. The membership at large got tired of it and took what everybody agrees is an extreme action. Maybe this will shake something loose and they can come back and work out a compromise that most can accept, or at least tolerate.

Not all public schools it seems. At least the high school I graduated from, John Ehret, voted no.

All the planets converge, you get once in a lifetime talent and make a run at the playoffs? Doesn't matter, because there are a couple of schools in your classification that are on a different plane. Play an absolute perfect game and you may stay within three touchdowns, because they're playing with a different deck. It ain't being a pussy to think that system stinks.
