I liked Shawshank better when it was (insert obscure Japanese silent movie here).

Its a good movie and I like it, but its not an all time great, it doesn't crank my 90's top 20.

I'm genuinely curious to what your top 20 is.

I'll attempt this.

1)Braveheart
2)Good Will Hunting
3)Clerks
4)Dogma
5)Goodfellas
6)Seven
7)Usual Suspects
8)Scream
9)sixth sense
10)Fifth element
11)Forrest Gump
12)My Cousin Vinny
13)Get Shorty
14)Beauty and the Beast
15) Lion King
16)The Birdcage
17)Shawshank
18)Heat
19)Die Hard with a Vengeance
20)Casino

16 movies in the 90's I'd rather watch than shawshank.

The story from Stephen King's novella is based on the Count of Monte Cristo, which they allude to in the movie.

And the Birdcage is a great farce.

This was my list for the 90's MWADS list, though I might tinker that order now

1 Goodfellas
2 Pulp Fiction
3 Reversal of Fortune
4 Quiz Show
5 The Crying Game
6 JFK
7 Fargo
8 Usual Suspects
9 Trainspotting
10 The Player
11 LA Confidential
12 Clerks
13 Bullets Over Broadway
14 Good Will Hunting
15 In the Name of the Father
16 The Sixth Sense
17 Schindler's List
18 American Pie
19 Elizabeth
20 Shakespeare in Love

and that's keeping a limit of 1 per director, so Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown, Chasing Amy, Miller's crossing among others would be ahead of SSR

Look, you pretentious little frick toy, just because this film is apparently too mainstream to squeeze into your pygmy dick-sized little "niche" doesn't make it bad or even overrated. I'm sure the real reason you don't like it is because it doesn't contain the graphic, syrup-slurping, violent homosexual rape scenes you were hoping to jerk off to.

I'm also sure the fact that more than 4 people have seen the film irritates you more than the ingrown hairs on your pliable, flaccid a-hole, but it doesn't deserve to be publicly derided just to satisfy your overpowering need to piss people off.

That's the best I got right now.

There are people on this board who don't completely ignore my opinion?

Boggs showed him how to get big things in little holes.
