First off let me say that the first priority on this defense should be a playmaking DE/OLB. However, since the firing and word of the switch to a 3-4 base defense, I can't help but wonder how Talib would flourish in NOLA. He has played consistently better inside a dome since coming into the league in 2008 recording 10 of his 19 inside domes. He does have a lot of baggage attached to him in regards to discipline, but with the right coaches and locker room around him he can be tamed as he was for his short time in New England. He played well under Belichik in the 3-4 and if we do end up hiring Crennel or Mangini it will be some form of the Belichik defense. The main thing blocking this transaction would be money. Talib is a high quality corner that will demand a big payday but teams will be restricted to give him a lot of money due to his discipline issues. He signed a 5 year 14 mil contract in 08 with the Bucs so I see him getting somewhere in the 2-3 year 5-8 mil range.

I wouldn't mind him, but I think I would rather spend that money on a LB

Per year? He had a great season. He may sign a short contract again for more proof that he's done with his tomfoolery, but he's going to be well paid.

I can't get past the name - I don't want to have to refer to that name - certainly there are plenty other capable players like "Smith"

Isa Abdul-Quddus + Aqib Talib. If you're not down for that, I'll put a Jihad on you!

Hes ours. Back off.

Funny how things change though, when he was traded to the Pats, he was a washed up thug that wasnt any good.
