a couple of them even sold the play in class rule as something that would "hurt" curtis and eca... making them less attractive....

That's more cutting off the nose to spite the face...
For example, let's say an inner city New Orleans school was in support of the association staying together. That school needs gate so it wants to play "at" a couple of Catholic League schools every year. Well, now that's less of a possibility.
Private schools that want to "stick it" to the public schools that voted them out will do so anyway. Similarly, public schools that want to "punish" selects by not scheduling them and making them work harder to schedule are going to do so anyway.

You seem really up on this-do you believe that? They got shoved back in class to 2A years ago, and this year they might have had their best team ever.
Our coach said it right the other night-we will play anyone, anyplace, anytime, but it's obvious others don't buy into that. It's entirely likely that both my boys will have finished their playing time having Curtis in their class every year they played, surely lessening their chances at a ring, but that's just the way it goes. Life isn't always fair, and not everyone gets a trophy. Obviously Winnfield's principal, and a bunch of her peers don't want HS kids getting that life's lesson until they leave that school's campus...

I don't think very many people actually believed it, but that was the reasoning.
Evangel did take a slight step back from where they were, but Calvary had more to do with that than being in 2A.

If Holy Rosary did go K-12 they would be smaller than 1A. Bouziguard was teacher of mines during that SL basketball era. His ties with SL do run deep. Caught many passes from cajun cannon back in the day.
I think the Curtis thing is dead down here. As for as i know anyways.
I hope this split goes back to how its always been, but reading in here tells me otherwise. And its a damn shame.

I heard those words come out of a catholic league principals mouth... I laughed so did a former curtis coach.....
same principal also said they would never play curtis - because they didn't want to legitimize their program.. which I thought was comical.. and they would never be let into Cath league because "their academic standards aren't the same as ours" yet this principal had several kids(athletes) taking tests in the library or in other rooms separate from other students.. and on their own time.
to think that was gonna effect either program was laughable and it still is.. but again.... 4 and 5a voted solidly for it.. with the help of b and c....
majority rules.....

the biggest complaint I have heard is about the systematic hold backs at 3-4 schools.... not recruiting and unfair advantages...

Then address that and put an emphasis on enforcing it. Look, I remember my older son starting on our OL at 16 years old lining up across from Curtis DL and LB that he said looked older than anyone he's currently in school at LSU with. And I know, from a really sold (second hand) source that Curtis had an active redshirting program. Straight from a kid from there who was asked to repeat a grade for athletic reasons. So, bust their arse for that-paying one ex-detective $75K a year has to be cheaper than breaking their lease will be when the LHSAA has to downsize because they lost 40% of their members. And one really zealous compliance officer would be plenty. There aren't many places he would have to spend his time.

It is so rampant at another school that their 7th grade baseball team is playing 14 year old baseball...and their 8th 15s.....
Most of the parents are doing it within the rules.. and if you role the date back further eventually those parents will start putting their kids in school a year later..
and kids that hold back for legitimate reasons... I can accept.. but because he won't make the team ain't one...
put em in the same class with their counterparts...
it's just like elite soccer, travel baseball, and aau hoops.. parents have so many options they get tunnel vision.
I know one thing.. I don't want to pay an extra year of tuition.. and I would feel kinda guilty watching my kid beat up on kids a year younger than him.
I'll never forget about 10 years ago I was watching a college game and having a few beers with a very successful HS coach.. and his former QB was the star of the game as a soph.. and he goes.. just think.. if he had gone *&$.. he would still be there(perfect birthday for 2 holdbacks).

It's funny how that years back the N. O. private schools wouldn't let Curtis into the 5A Catholic league.
seems like they are the ones wanting to duck Curtis. yet they call out the small publics for doing just that. and blasting Winnfield?? amazing....

Shaw and St Aug never ducked them... Bro. Mart and HC played them twice each.. but jesuit and rummel.......never.. well rummel played them in 1968 or 1969

When I was at Brother Martin we played Curtis a few times, once or twice the games were played in the Dome. Some of the games might have been jamborees

I think what that does is increase the chances of the LHSAA folding long term. Politicians can't step in and save it from itself now, and the privates are about to break off and start a new org where they're the majority.
