The butthurt in this thread is almost entirely from the privates. That tells me they think they have the most to lose, their talk about this hurting the public schools notwithstanding.

It's not about what's to lose; it's about the LHSAA and the majority of public schools saying that they want the private schools money but don't want to play them.

I just don't think it makes much sense. LA isn't a big enough state and I feel like there really isn't that big of a gap between public and private schools

A state like Texas, on the other hand, completely needs this, even though for them the public schools have the advantage

I'd be happy for the privates to go off and do their own thing.

That would be absolutely terrible for the LHSAA and not just in a financial sense.

You think the "prestige" of playing in a watered down public school playoff is going to sway a kid over going to a functional high school that has better coaches, better teachers, better facilities, better support organizations, and puts more athletes into college?

lol. wut?

here are the La boys that LSU is going after. How many are from private schools? Two. And this is before these schools get kicked out of the playoffs.

Sorry, but the future aint bright for pivate recruitment, thats why they are the only people bitching about the split

I'm talking about the percentage of HS athletes who go to college in general, not necessarily on an athletic scholarship or to a major program like LSU.

So what is the competitive disadvantage that the publics whine about that caused this whole BS.

Hmmm, explain in further detail please?

The ball is in the private schools court now. I think they need a little time before they determine the next move but complete split in all sports is coming. I just don't see the relevance in being in the LHSAA moving forward for private schools.

So your percentages on NO, BR and Laffy dont equate to the same, when talking about public vs private schollies? I mean, wouldnt those percentages have to hold true, for it really to be bad for public schools ability to retain their top athletes?

I bet the number of kids going to any college from any La public school is far greater than the those from private. Far greater

Maybe the raw number but not the overall percentages. Private schools send more athletes to college on a percent average.

ETA: Just remember you are comparing the overall raw public schools ~300 to ~80 private schools. The privates send a good bit too.

a list of where kids came from in 2012 is not relevant if in 2020 private schools have all left the LHSAA and are able to entice kids via ways currently illegal

We could ask the same thing about your side re: the death knell of the LHSAA.

The LHSAA will continue to exist in some form or fashion in the future. I guess the question is how much power does the association still have or will have moving forward?

Again, I blame a lot of this on the LHSAA for not cracking down on the recruiting.

i blame it on small schools having too much power as a group... football is split because 37 class C votes got horse traded for nothing

Yeah. Not sure schools that don't even have football should be voting on what happens to the football playoffs.
