So I personally like the name change but pretty much all others outside of New Orleans absolutely hate it. So I'm wondering if any of y'all think it would effect any players decision on wanting to come here or play here?
I know something as little as that would be dumb but who knows... Maybe they don't wanna be laughed at from others around the league

Players don't care about a name enough to pass up on millions. It will in no way, shape or for affect players decisions to come here

The clippers, lakers, knickerbockers, heat, magic, & thunder don't seem to have problems getting good players despite their shitty names.
Just win and it doesnt matter

Who knows? Everyone knows this sentence should have stopped at dumb.
Players care about Money first. Role on the team second, and the Prestige of the team 3rd (which is tied to wins and losses and how well it is run not what the logo is).

The team name didn't get changed to the Gay Unicorns, it got changed to Pelicans. You also have to look at the logo, they clearly plan to emphasize New Orleans as much or more than Pelicans. After the initial reaction this week no one will give it a second thought.

If a team name affects a player so much that they don't want millions of dollars to come here, then they are retarded and I don't want them here anyway.

Actually, most of the fans on NBA message boards liked the name and really liked the logo. Free agents will look at the numbers on their check before they look at a team's name and logo. If free agents want to play for teams named after the weather and a pair of pants, then they shouldn't have a problem playing for the Pelicans.
