To be quite honest i'd like a scoring 2 or 3, preferably a 3, not a draft pick that will be in the 15+ range.
when Gordon comes out, we don't have a decent scorer out there. I know they were hoping Rivers could be a ben gordon, jamal crawford, nick young, harden type player eventually that can produce off the bench, but that just isn't going to happen with him.

If we want to be a team that can compete in the playoffs we need a 3 that can play defense and hit a 3, still would like to keep Aminu, and a 2 that can score off the bench.
I like our 4 and 5 position and the salaries we have there. We are just lacking a backup 2 or 3 that can score so we don't go through the "I hope we don't lose the lead or dig ourselves a bigger deficit when Vazquez and Gordon go out" every game.

but we absolutely need a 3, Henry is terrible and doesn't deserve to be in the NBA or even the D-leauge. I was hoping Miller could have played sparingly and provide decent defense and be capable of hitting open 3's.
A guy like Mikel Pietrus would be nice, what the hell is he doing in Toronto?

People have been saying this since he came into the league. It's not happening.

agreed. monty needs to stagger vasquez and gordon better.

agreed. but I just dont see swiss army knife three to be had any where.

by all means get another three that can shoot some, but that alone wont turn this team into a contender. as I said, the offense is top 10 with gordon.

He's not even that good of a shooter to have improved vastly.

He's got the same 3pt shot from the hip. He's got the same floater/bank shot. His output and percentages are near indentical.

I love how you think it's that easy. Vasquez was atleast a volume shooter PG at Maryland. There are probably atleast 50 regular posters on HT that have a better jump shot than Aminu.

You really have to let go of any false sense of hope that Aminu is our future at the 3.

Best case scenario 1): Sign Our Lord and Savior Josh Smith, let Aminu walk, draft a non-project wing that may not have a high ceiling, but can contribute off the bench right away.

Best case scenario 2): Draft Shabazz, re-sign Aminu. Open the season with Aminu starting, see if Shabazz can beat him out by the All Star Break.

No, it's not nearly as lethargic as it was without him in the beginning of the season, but our half-court sets still leave ALOT to be desired.

Sorry, you can't take an 8 game sample and claim that this offense is "top 10". Metrics don't say anything with such a small sample size.

Feel free to keep your head in the sand though.

wtf does Vasquez being a volume shooter have to do with anything?

are you saying that vasquez took more shots and became a better shooter? because aminu can do that too.

and why is it so hard for a player to become a better shooter? aminu doesn't have to be ray allen. bruce bowen couldn't shoot for shite, but became one of the best 3pt shooters in the NBA

So your grand plan is to replace the sf on the team that can't shoot with a pf who can't shoot?

Why not? The offense has been top 10 with Gordon in the lineup. If you cared to read the post, you would know I recognize the small sample size.

Josh Smith is a SF who plays the 4 out of necessity and to act like he wouldn't believe a huge leap over Aminu at the 3 is comical.

Do you watch the game or just look at the box scores afterwards?

Well, based on our current roster, I would be disappointed if we drafted a SG or PF. BPA who plays one of the other positions.

so we might as well figure out realistic guys for our mid-lottery pick.

1. Ben McLemore- Maybe the best player in the draft, definitely the best guard in the draft.

How did he reconcile these two statements?

He is a stretch 4 like Shawn Marion. He doesn't have great skill on offense, so he uses his athletic ability to go by slower 4s. He won't spread the floor because he can't shoot.

Smith is obviously the better player. Never have said otherwise. But the main complaint you've had with Aminu is that he can't shoot. Well neither can Smith. To me, it doesn't make much sense to spend an extra $10-12million per year for a guy that doesn't fix what seems to be your main complaint.

Both. Though I wasn't able to watch tonight.

I've said it many times and I'll say it again- even with injuries and with rivers/aminu playing so much, offense aint this team's problem.

Maryland

83% FT
33% 3p

Hornets
14 PPG

And that's the average of 4 years of college compared to 1/2 a season
