But you're okay with the NFL making money the easy way? Sure, that makes a lot is sense.

Who says the NFL is making money? And almost all money through things like this is given to charity.

He didnt take anything from anyone by copyrighting "Harbowl". This is bullshite. And for the record, we live in a country that allows people to make money based off of taking a shot. This dude took a shot. No one was hurt, no one lost money (except the NFL). It's people like you that bitch about rich people being too rich.

I guess you also think that people who invested in Apple at the beginning should give their money back. All they did was buy stock in something they thought could be big.

Somebody is going to profit on it. He got there before everyone else, so he deserves it.

Please explain what is the difference? People buy stock in a company that other people started. They do no work. Just throw money at it.

This guy copyrighted a name that he was not affiliated with in hopes that someone would buy it from him.

Please explain to me why this is wrong and who he harmed?

He spent 1000 dollars on a futures bet. Seems pretty legit to me.

Exactly. That's why I applaud the NFL for stepping in.

And making the same money that Fox would have made.

Hmmmmmm.

I wonder if the Coaches' Union is going to see a nice little bump because of this action

Like betting 1000 dollars that the Ravens and 49ers would meet in the super bowl?

Pretty sure their first matchup the term harbowl was used. So it wasn't a futures bet.

The difference is when you buy stock you are now invested in the company and have a stake. The money from the IPO is invested by the company in some projects to help it grow.

What you are defending is a complete bastardization of copyright law. Copyright law was designed to enable people that actually create something to profit from that creation. Copyright and patent trolls, which this guy is are a drain on the economy. While the NFL is also guilty of abusing the spirit of the law, this guy did nothing to create value.

This is a good example of why we need to re think, if not abolish most IP laws.

apples and oranges. by being a copy right troll, he can prevent people from using the term with out paying him, that's just abusing the law.

If he bets on the game, he profits, he can't stop others from betting on the game.

Well, yeah. But this all started because he copyrighted the term "Three Peat".

ETA: I just realized that was actually in the linked article. I didn't read any other posts before I commented.
